Grand Final Pain

As if the supporters of the team playing Geelong wont have enough pain on Grand Final day, now they have to put up with Powderfinger.

That settles it, I'm not going then. And if the Crows win the GF and I missed it I'll blame the organisers of the event...

When I go to football, I just want football without any distractions.
If I were in the mood for music I'd go to a concert of my choice where it wouldn't be distorted by bad amplification and a bad acoustic environment. I've got a wide taste in music, but I like it done well!

The most recent live performance I went to was actually a classical Indian show with live musicians and dance.

Well said. Why people think you need rock bands playing at the Grand Final is beyond me. I do have a theory however ... I think the adminstrators realise the game is nowhere near as good as it used to be (bordering on boring), so they introduce all sorts of distractions to divert attention from the football.

Why we need to model the day's game on the Superbowl is beyond me. Americanism at it's finest. Seriously, who cares who is on before the game, during half time or even afterward. It's about the game for god's sake.

Personally, the only reason I hope they play a "decent" band is so that other countries who see the spectacle don't laugh at us.

PS. Not many have not been laughable.

Jeez Dutchy, I was kidding there - did it sound serious saying, "And if the Crows win the GF and I missed it I'll blame the organisers of the event..." Who could mean that seriously??
As I have said here a few times, I don't go to AFL matches anyway, because I live over 50Km from the Melbourne CBD, with no public transport.
[Also, my wife has been ill for 2 years, so I don't leave her home alone at weekends.]

I used to go to Norwood matches regularly when I lived in SA, but my interest in AFL is only peripheral to more important things in my life, like running two businesses and having time for the family. Right now, I'm winding up the two businesses, in preparation for investing my extracted capital and going off to the UK.

I haven't been to a match at all since I lived in West Lakes in 1996, just before moving to Melbourne.

Dutchy is just hanging out to bag both Adelaide AFL fans and those who want to rip into North Melbourne.

It was pretty obvious it was a joke.

Why are you worried about Powderfinger. They're a true Australian Rock band. I would be more worried about Mr Murray. He's sure to get the crowd fired up!!

I'm not exactly sure what i care less about, the Grand Final pre game entertainment (who watches this anyway isn't everyone cooking the BBQ?) or Psyber telling us all how wonderfully rich and successful he is :?

I like the pre-game entertainment... to me it's part of the 'build up' before the game.... however... I must say last year I was really dissappointed and it seemed to me more like a rock concert !!

I liked it when we used to hear 'football' songs before the game, with a mixture of people singing them..... like Up There Cazaly and such.

Sounds like this year is going to be much like last year :(

Oh well, will just have to turn on when the actual game starts
You get what you give....

the only pre-game entertainment I'd be interested in seeing is an all-in brawl!
