Just an example mate. All I was pointing out was that div 6 may appear to be crappy because it is the second to bottom A grade league in the city but infact it attracts some quality players. Teams are made up of individuals after all and they are the only basis I can think of to compare standards on the internet as no-one has seen the actual teams play. If we are talking about teams I daresay Greenacres and Golden grove in div 5 would be very competitive in the APFL.

I was having this debate with mates just last week Shrekkie, re. APFL vs SAAFL. Attempts were made to convince me they'd be very competitive in Div 2 and would push some Div 1 teams. I balked at those suggestions. Not wishing to add much to the debate here, just thought it was a synchronous it got brought up.

There are some very good players going around in Div 6, but you are only as strong as your weak links, of which there is often many in the lower Divs. Having said that, one of our fringe A-graders from the last two years is currently a fringe A-grader for Hummocks - must've pulled his finger out.

Who is the player who went to Hummocks? I notice the Whales boys play at Houghton and they used to be at Hummmocks.

Always interesting and difficult to compare leagues as the styles are different and standards fluctuate from year to year. However one thing is constant. No APFL team would ever push a div 1 team. They wouldn't even get close to Broadview at the moment.

Both the Whales lads are top blokes and top footy players. Brett went to school with a lot of our players and was with us many years back. Sean may look to take on more of a coaching role next year, especially if he decides to hang up the boots.

Scott Allen is the player now out at Hummocks.

It would take a big effort for anyone to beat Mallala this year. They flogged us on Saturday! We were lucky that they kicked very inaccurately to make the scoreboard look respectable for us. Very impressive they were. Firm favourites still with Earl, Saunders and probably Griffiths to come in they will only get stronger! Their midfield is sensational and seem to rotate well with each of them having a spell on the bench during each rotation.

As for top 4 I guess it will now be Mallala, Balak, Hummocks then us.

Personally I don't give a crap about where our league sits amongst the amateur league because we don't play them so it doesn't matter. Not sure why it was brought up again anyway cause the point was raised about how competitive Robertstown would be in our league (Not sure how comparing our league to SAAFL is relavant at all).

For what its worth I can only see positives for the future of the league to include Robertstown as gaining clubs is clearly a better option than losing them!! I guess time will tell.

Is Shaun thinking about hanging them up Quichey?
A good bloke. He had a Vanilla Ice flat top back in the 90s ;)

At least you remembered to spell his name correctly

It is probably something that he'll ponder. His line of work has meant that he has often had to play with little or no sleep. Shaun is a natural leader, well respected by all the lads and would do well in taking up a coaching capacity within the club.

I'll remind him of that haircut for ya

You're right Scud - it was a good game - not so good for the ticker though.

I reckon that would have been TW's youngest side ever - 1 U/16, 4 U/17s, 1 U/18, 3 U/19, 4 U/20, 1 32 year old, 1 25 year old and the rest U/24 - average age 20. And I agree, supplimenting the list is all that's required for the coming years. Good on HB as well - develop the locals and the rewards will come in time.

As well as being a young side, all but 3 of the TW side came through the TW junior program.

So Rooster your saying that these blokes are willing to hang around, train and remain involved but will be rested cos your trying to get a look at some young blood? and they're happy to do that? They must love their footy!

We will see this week - training at 6PM Tuesday evening - will they be on the track? If they are they would probably get a game.

Yeah nice to see Hamley and Two Wells playing their young players in the A's so they can sure up their Reserves sides for a tilt at the Finals !!!!!!

.......... Just joking, we know it's important to have young locals in the A's as a basis for the future.

i think it's fair to suggest that these blokes may not be on the track or in the red and whites again, and no, Swamp you are being mischeivious, they were not selected to play given their level of involvement and seeing as they have had all year to do something about it i wouldn't think it's going to happen now, i never mentioned that they were being rested i stated quite clearly i would have thought, the reason's for not being selected and any self respecting player would be forced to have at the reasons behind that themselves.

scud wrote:Congratulations “The Rooster” and “Jumbo” on the win Saturday. What I great game of Football to watch with both sides fielding so many young players it was an extremely highly skilled game and a great game to watch which looked to be played in the right spirit. I am not sure about the age of the TW players but they did look young. The HB team had only 1 player over the age of 25 playing Saturday and that was ‘supercoach’, we had 11 players under the age of 21 with 6 of them being under 18. The other 9 players were all between 21-25 years of age. Even though the score line in the end was heartbreaking, I enjoyed the game as it was great to watch good young local talent go head to head and both clubs doing the same thing through the week and looking at the juniors of the club to come up and not worrying about putting money into players pockets that are not deserving.

I think both you boys would agree that if both clubs can keep the players that were on the park Saturday and then inject the right kind of import players to the team that both these sides can look forward to an exciting few years.

Well done again boys and unfortunately as a fair bit of this year has gone the HB boys have been extremely competitive but can’t seem to be able to get over that winning line.

You took the words away from me Scud,

I was one who gave the Bombers a clip earlier this year on this forum for fielding blokes who weren't there for the right reasons, some would suggest that there has been a reasonable dose of egg on my face with the events of the past week.

But to be involved with saturdays game, both side's fielding some talented youth and both sides agreeing to persist to do so, was one of the highlights of my year.
All the Young bombers had a real dip and although they didn't quite get the buttered confection they were not real far away from it and with all of them sticking together and the odd gun recruit they have a bright future.

Both side's had blokes who still had mud on their knee's from senior colts and it was a see sawing game that was a decent spectacle.

Not sure about Two wells Ruckman, that bald kid has a fair bit of puppy fat, but may develop into a handy ruckman. or perhaps he should quit trying to raise the average age....Super rules beckons!!! :D

Rolly is a big out though. He would be one of the most consistent blokes to have played up your way in 10 years. Top player and top bloke.

Good afternoon and thank you all for coming, firstly as you all know Two Wells chose to pursue the idea of developing youth a few years back and has blooded many local youngsters, but alas with this comes a little time in the shade and a few turns on the wrong end of the flogging stick.

We, like most clubs sought out some more experienced players from elsewhere to supplement any defeciencies in our team, with the thought of turning things around. The recent imports we have had, in my experience, have been very good and have given Two Wells a little something, but again at this time of year with things not working out as we would have hoped the club takes a look at what's happening.

Unfortunatley for a couple of blokes, who are top lads, their level of involvement, committment, support and workrate has waned and in an effort to get some run into a few more young cocks, the coaching panel has left them out.

These boys may be mates but have heard they have also lost quite a few due to there actions. Nice puff piece post Rooster in an attempt to gloss over what is a sad case of events. Everyone i know expected you guys to be well entrenched in the top 4 this year & finally prove that the potential tag of the last few years has been valid. These imports have let you down badly & i know some blokes won't be welcoming them back in a hurry. But as you say, the upside is that you continue to unearth more talented kids from that endless stockpile you seem to have.

Now i'm not going to name these blokes as many people read this forum and these guys are good blokes, and they don't deserve to be treated as pariah's because they havent trained as hard as others or put much back into the club.

Bottom line is we will endeavour to compile a squad that we think will win premierships, not just snag a few games along the journey. And as anyone from HWE or Mallala will tell you it takes a special group of men to be able to do that. We are taking this opportunity over the next two weeks to have a look at some kids who are stand outs in the senior colts and get some cohesion as a group.

So to put any would be rumour mongers to the axe, these blokes haven't been sacked, nor have they been shown the door, it is simply a case of blooding juniors Vs playing players who's enthusiasm has petered out. And i would suggest that most clubs with our ladder position would do the same.
