The Saints player must have struck the McLaren player because of the injury he sustained, however I think you will find that both players came from the ground with the blood rule so it seems that they both had a go. The Saints player wore a mouthguard it would be interesting to know if the McLarens player was. Generally its hard to knock teeth out with a correctly moulded guard from the dentist. (not condoning striking) In a separate incident in this match a Saints player had a tooth put through his tongue so this was not an isolated situation in this match. As for how many weeks the Saints player got, this is yet to be decided. The player in question could not attend the tribunal beacuse he was in hospital in surgery. See gsfl.com.au where it mentions the non attendance at the tribunal.

I am sorry Luvs Footy but i am from neither of these two clubs but i was at the game watching a nephew play under 14s and while he was showering after his game i was watching the 17s. This incident happened right in front of me and i am sorry it was discusting. I was unaware of the outcome of the McLaren player and after reading this thread i hope he is ok because it did not look good.

The McLaren player and another player were having a little push and shove with nothing in it just a couple of boys in the heat of the moment. THEN the #14 from Saints game running up from behind and forarmed the McLaren player right in the mouth with some serious power. The McLaren boy was shocked and turned to see where he had been hit from in which the Saints player gave him another smack in the GOB.

It was completely unprevoked and way beyond the laws of the game, and i hope the young boy from McLarens' teeth are ok.

Anyway enough of that, i just want to introduce myself i am new to this site and i have a son that plays mini colts at Mt Compass.

So your from Compass, does your nephew play at Mclaren or Saints mate?
What area of the ground was the strike from the Saints player? Was it in front of the club rooms? If you were waiting for your nephew to shower and it was infront of you I am just woundering if you were waiting infront of the club rooms, if so then a fair few people would have seen the strike.

Nephew plays at McLaren it was in line with the clubrooms but on the opposite side of the oval, almost in front of the gates when you enter the oval. You understand where i am talking about.

Onto a better note some results on the weekend have shocked me to say the least. Mclaren to draw with Compass no one would have guessed that one, how would these two clubs be feeling? Bays beating Strath in what I am told a great game of footy with the Bays really lifting and playing great footy at the perfect time of the year. Then Yank beating Victor with ease and Victors coach pulling the pin thursday night at training, who is going to put the wheels back on the Roos and pull them back in line? Myponga getting so close to Willunga at Willunga what were the conditions like? Cant wait to read BJ's report on that game! Creeks got over the Saints and will hope to see some players return from injury for finals but would be happy to have secured the double chance now.
Although we all know Willunga will be winning the flag it's going to be a great finals series to see who will play off against them in the GF. Who is everybody tipping?

Willunga still $1.02 favourites but what an interesting day it could be if they hold the GF (which surely wont happen if the rain continues) at Compass.

I agree Kappers, although my son is involved in the mini's i do like to follow the other grades and your right Myponga did really well against Willunga by the looks of it although it might have been wet.

I was at the McLaren Compass game and it was a terrific game to watch. Both teams looked pretty devastated after the game but i reckon the compas boys would have felt worse. Any idea what the mood was like with the McLaren boys (A mum or KK).

The game was played at a high intensity with some really good players on display. I think Burdett was getting tagged and although he had still a lot of the ball, probably not the influence he usually has. Bailey played well and so did Scmidtty.

Of the McLaren boys not sure of their names but the guy with the Helmet was very good and in the backline they played well two. Numbers 21, 43, and the centre half back played some real tough footy. Any idea what their names are? excuse my ignorance.

We'll all have to park on Victor Harbor Road and walk in

Because surely there's a 'car' limit of how many can fit in, and if you send extra cars in you're not going to be able to turn around and come out again if there's no space left !! :-s

Must have been a cracker between the Bays and Strath!!! 3 points, Bays kickstarted into gear from the previous weeks downer and have thrown a spanner in the works! You would think in 2 weeks time they will get over Compass at this rate.

Myponga are a committed side, always play hard footy against us and the weekend was no exception. Oval was slippery and heavy. They bottled the game up well and Princi must have had them playing to a plan and they executed it well. We had plenty of opportunities, 12-18 is bad kicking and a lot of other wasted forward entries. Few things to work on before this weeks game against Strathalbyn.

What a joke. Finals can not be played at Compass or Myponga if this rain continues. Get VH and Yank ovals on the agenda. By the way Limb, whats the go out at the Creek with all those exposed sprinkler heads? In this the day and age of legal action I would hate to think of the consequences if someone got injured from one of those.

It was interesting that you brought that up LF. Up until Saturday there had been no sign of the pop-up sprinklers but after the game on Saturday quite a few people were talking about it. We'll certainly have them fixed up before next week. Do you think that this distraction affected the Saints players??

I think without a doubt it cost us the game. we talked about it in depth prior to the game and came to the conclusion that avoiding the sprinklers and severe injury came before winning. Being no good, playing a better team and having half your team out was probably a small contributor as well. What about Randall Follett? He was 1st, 2nd and 3rd best by an absolute mile.

I agree, Randall had an absolute blinder. He's pretty quick for a 35 year old! Randall and Matt Footner both received invitations to the Mail Medal count so it will be interesting to see how he goes.

Re tribunal
Saints V Mclaren u/17

1.Any Video evidence is for the Tribunal and for them to make the decision
2. The reporting process was correct and any Goal Umpire is impartial and IS AN UMPIRE.
3. There are times when we have to let the GSFL do their job and it is up to them to view the evidence and make the appropriate decision
4. While we would like to view the video ( And i would love to) IT IS NONE OF OUR BUSINESS

THERE IS NO WAY IT SHOULD BE ON UTUBE
This is a great forum to discuss all the issues on our great game
but it is not up to us to be the judge, jury and executioner

Do the Creek faithful worry about life without Randall? The Hawks will lost about 30 clearances per game. The best part of his game is the way he conducts himself. Doesn't sledge, abuse umpires or have a go at team mates.

Our medal invites are the Griffen brothers. Trent has not had a kick all year but I am sure he will enjoy a snitzel and a glass of wine. Trav has been consistent as per usual but our team as a whole will probably poll less than the winner. The colts are a different story we have some good chances. good news is that all our colts chances have another year in their repective grades

It will be a sad day when Randall does hang up the boots but as long as he's enjoying his footy and his body's holding up he tells us he'll keep going. Well summed up, the way he goes about his footy is a credit to him. He also sets a good example off field with his attitude at training, coaching the modifieds and attending club functions.

Because it would have been tapped by a spectator and not every game is video tapped so it would be a un-fair trial. If it was taken into account I will be taking my camera with me next week and you could see a few Willunga or Strath A grade players miss the finals.

I would've thought they would be using any available evidence to ensure they are well informed to make the appropriate decision. Who knows, if the accounts given by the witnesses are exaggerated seeing the footage may reduce the penalty.

Someone should tape a Compass game and tag Burdette. Every time I have seen him tagged he gives out a punch to the lower stomach area (sometimes lower) on take off at stopages video of this and Compass and Birdy's final's campagne would be over before the first week of the finals!
