yeah not good weather but perfect for yettis, now being a McLaren mum can you tell me if the 7ftmonster/yetti actually exists you know the one cuzzy keeps on about is he a player pheraps one of your ruckmen just heard lots about him.
Good to see bad boy cuzzy didnt scare you off from posting.Good luck tommorrow

 Sorry Jelom can't help with a 7ft monster.

As for being scared off.... there's too many other people on this thread with wisdom, insight, passion for the game, respect for the GSFL, and great senses of humours to scare me off

I'm a great believer in karma, what comes around goes around, what you give is what you get, etc, etc, etc... therefore all I can see Cuzzy actually do is bring bad 'karma' to his beloved club. [-X

Hey but that's just my opinion \:D/

A Saturday review from 'A Mum's' perspective..... well mostly of the conditions really.... I'll leave the technical stuff for others :D

This weekend we ventured to Myponga. On leaving home we had a cloudy day but with the sun trying to find its way through.

The Junior Colt game went along fine, our boys won and the weather was not too bad.... then it struck us and we soon learnt why we were now in the land of the 'mudlarks' !! ... A big dark cloud descended upon Myponga filled with heavy rain and hail. This was the start of the nice green oval turning into brown mud.

Myponga's senior colts were just too good for us.... the wet weather suited them down to the ground. Really funny seeing the Myponga senior colt boys 'puddle diving' and 'belly surfing' in the puddles after the game (That's how big they were!!)... classic.

B grade started and so did the hail... the netball girls had their lights on, but we did not need lights on the oval as there was enough light beaming from the umpires hat (Nice hat Shaune) :D .....the junior boys doing the boundary umpiring now shaking, wet and freezing cold were wondering why they had put their hands up to do this job...but got through with the knowledge that they were doing the right thing for their club. At one point when Myponga were kicking in from a missed goal the McLaren's boys were yelling "build the wall, build the wall"... and one spectator was heard to yell out... "Yeah.. build a wall with the mud" .

I didn't see the A grade and even though we lost I heard that we put up a good effort in terrible weather conditions with more hail....and how they were almost unrecognisable with the muddy conditions, that even their numbers couldn't be recognised. I actually can't ever remember seeing such muddy conditions before... but as they say the farmers need the rain... so let it rain!

Overall I think the day was played in really good spirits by both teams.... both teams out there to play football although in trying conditions, no fights or antaginising just good old country footy !! That's what we like to see (well us mums anyway) O:)

Just wondering though.... does anyone know the reason for chopping down all those nice big trees??

What a Massive UPSET in the senior colts. Myp 8 - 5 to McClaren 2 -1.
What was the reason for this?
Puts McClarens' finals chances in serious jeopardy.

The oval was a bog on the weekend wherever you went you were ankle deep in mud, except for a couple of spots in the pockets.

Congrats on the cup BJ!!
I guess we wont hear much from TC or Cuzzy this week, seems they were really bought back down to earth in a big way on sat with a 15 goal loss in those conditions that is a royal flogging!! What was the oval like BJ?
Same goes for Victor also, looks like last weeks big derby means not a great deal because come September no matter who it is Bays or Victor the only side that they might face and not have a 10 goal + loss is to Compass.
Its time to see if Creek can lift in september and to see if Strath can push Willunga.

Talking to a few of the pongy boys and they said they cant remember worse conditions than saturday, they were so bad that even Barry Clarke was shivering
As 4 the trees being cut down, apparently there is a housing developement being bulit next to the oval so they had to be removed.

Yeah you know that the conditions must be bad when even the Mudlarks are complaining about them!

yep willunga were good on the weekend and boy do they love that top side, dont think the guy playing on the wing on the bottom side got a kick. They certainly do have great depth as a club and was interesting to see Bruiser and Moose playing B grade plus plenty of other blokes who could most likley step up to the A grade. The bays did not play well and appeared in the first quarter that they could not switch on. Second quarter was a bit better but 3rd and fourth were average. Although the score line looked S#%t i still think it did not show a true indication of the game, i still think any team in the top 5 could give Willunga a shake in september. But dont get me wrong willunga are a very very good team and showed us at the bay what where we need to be to play finals footy.

What was interesting was the lack of crowd support for Willunga, i didnt see a supporter all day, the were most likley cramped up in the club house but still thought they could manage a cheer for their beloved club. is this normal BJ?

Come on Cuzzy it terrible conditions and they are a very tall side so wet and windy does not suit them at all and they beat you by 15 goals then you say you think any top 5 side could shake them in Septemer, in the past September has been a pretty dry month so the margins will only grow. As Willunga have showen in the past few years they are September specialist and its going to be upto Strath or maybe (I doubt it as they crumble in September) Creek to try rattle them as Willunga have delt with Bays by 10+ goals in 08 on both occassions and also handed Compass a 23 goal belting then in a closer one got up by 5 goal.
Willunga supporters can predict the results every week so they dont show up anymore!

Well what a weekend for footy Willunga McCraken cup winners i heard they had a huge crowd on hand to support them :^o Heard Pongy game was transferrd due to condition of the oval to the local reservior(A Mum or eagles 23 any truth in this)Victor thought the game was at strath hence the late start to the score.Compass to good for goolwa and Langhornes atoning for last time they played yank.I didnt venture out this week due my heamorhoids problem from sitting on the bench too much in recent times but from what i hear Willungas small men ran riot McDonald and Porkchops and Genovese everywhere THEY are flag favourites with centrebet suspending betting on the GSFL.Cuzzy has informed me the bays just wanted to have a look at the demons and the way they play. The five is set now.
Pongy trees have been cut down to feed all the local heaters, Nah to comply with residential zoning

I accept the oval was a bog BUT the conditions are the same for both teams. Just seems a Huge difference in scores considering their positions on the ladder.
Great for the comp tho to have the senior colts so even with the 8th and 9th teams giving the top sides a run for their money each week. I was even impressed with the effort of Yank on saturday who are winless and Bottom and despite getting beaten 18-12 to 0-0 made the Creeks work really hard in very difficult conditions.

Kappars thats where i find your post contridicting, you say that strath could upset willunga but bays wont, either strath are totally unpredicatble going by the results below or you are saying they have finally hit there straps. If the bays beat strath this week will you be saying the bays can shake up willunga come september.
Strathalbyn 10.8 (68) d Mt Compass 8.6 (54).
Strathalbyn 12.8 (80) d Encounter Bay 10.6 (68).
Mount Compass 7.5 (47) d Strathalbyn 5.5 (35).

You might find that being the cold, wet, wintery day that it was - that normally staying on parents from the junior grades opted to take their freezing cold children home... hence whole families missing contributing to crowd support down.

Wasn't a huge crowd at Pongy either.

Those score lines do go against what I said Cuzzy but as we all know some sides match up better against some and not others. This week will tell a great lot about what position bays are in compared to the other 3 sides trying to get to Willunga's level.

I think we are being a bit tough on Cuzzy
The Bays have had a very good month and to play the Demons on the side of a hill is always tough.
Were you at full strength Cuzzy?

The bays do match up reasonably against Willunga and i was surprised with the result...although sometimes the scoreboard does not reflect the way the game went
What was your view Cuzzy

The seven foot yeti didn't show up did he?

There were 5,000 people down at Goolwa looking for the yeti in the cold and wet. According to locals the Yeti has been forced out of his natural enviroment due to the river levels falling.

Victor result was very dissappointing
