Meanwhile, at the worst oval in the hills, you can still bounce a footy on 90% of the oval

You might see David Hassellhoff frolicking in the sand also

Mt Barker oval was at its best today- ankle deep mud all over but with how the weather's been guess u cant expect anything else.

Onto the footy Super B's beat Barker by about 12 goals. Great team effort in heavy conditions, something like 11-9 to 0-5. The A's wasn't going according to the script- Barker were winning by 2 goals very late into the last quarter. Think they played the smarter wet weather footy, more direct and first to the ball most of the day. Not sure a lot should be read into it as it wasn't really football being played out there but credit must go to the roos.

Onkas beat Blackwood.

dont know exact scores but it was by a few points in a very low scoring game - 4 goal to 3 goal.

Ha ha classsic PN.......can we take it from that your a Crows supporter and leave before the end of the game if your team is losing!

Seriously though Barker would be pumped with that result......does that mean a top 3 spot for them?

Was today the coldest day ever in the hills!!!!!!!!!

Well I have to say that after playing at Bridgewater yesterday I find it hard to believe if they'd ever have a chance of being successful in Div 1. It would be so hard to try and recruit players to that club with the "facilities" (I use that term loosely) they have.

The oval was an absolute disaster with the surrounds and canteen/bar being disgraceful as well. After coming off covered in stinking mud you would at least expect some decent hot showers but even that was lacking with only two shower heads and lack of any sort of decent pressure.

It was not surprising to go up to the clubrooms after the game for a drink and actually out-number the Bridgy guys.

I feel sorry for the guys at that club that have to train/play in those conditions every week.

Spearhead or GTS,

Did Inside50 play or was he just put on the team sheet for a lead to the finals?
I also am interested in your view on Mt Barker (the team not the ground) as I still rate them as the best I have seen this year? 8)

The Hahndorf team with their new recruits are a lot different to the ones we played earlier this year. :(

Alaska, yeah mate inside50 pulled on the red and white (not that it stayed that colour for long) again yeasterday. could clearly see that he was a level above most on the field, he carved up in the crap conditions and would be an extremely handy pick up late in the yr if he doesnt get back into the sturt side, but by all accounts he should be back up there this week..

im assuming ur asking about the barker A's cause the b's are ordinary. i think they played really well in the mud, and were cleaner with their skills than our boys. we definately had alot more of the ball but to barkers credit there backline played really well. their early lead of 3 goals to 1 in the first qtr was the difference we couldnt peg it back.. however dont see them as a threat for the flag in better conditions. s. nunans massive kick was very handy for them as most of our kicks werent going much over 25m...

Is it true that '2 Old 2 Slow' has legs the size of a pint glass and has now got the nickname Quinton?

Heard a rumour that Shane Barnard from Ironbank may be applying for the coaching job of the Thunderers Colts side. It's the only way that he can look his players in the eyes!!!

I wouldn't say Lofty is worse than barker, not yet anyway. It would have been torn to pieces though had it been played on on sat. Looks like there might be a couple of dry days ahead that will help dry it out a bit, or atleast let it drain...shite we've had some rain!

Barker was an absolute mess, but that's footy in the hills. Thank goodness the loss doesn't impact the devs position, it would have been an extremely disappointing loss had it done so. But credit to the boys for fighting to the death.

How bad is bridgey oval? Is it like the good old days where blokes used to loose their boots?

Lobethal oval was boggy, muddy and parts were underwater. However, considering the amount of rain we have seen in the hills over the last week and a half i was reasonably impressed with the way that the surface had held up.

Uraidla A grade just too classy for Lobethal who never looked even slightly convincing. Coach Suthers told the runner to go and have a shower at quater time.

In the B Grade the bigger bodies of Lobethal left an undermanned Uraidla side for dead. A few of the larger framed cabbage cutters did okay but lobethal just ended up being able to soccer the ball further in the end to get their maiden win for the season. Never seen such a low scoring affair in senior football. Scores were as follows at the breaks

0.0 to 0.0 quater time
0.2 to 0.0 half time
0.4 to 0.0 three quater time
2.6 to 0.0 final score

Hills football at its finest, although the ugly side to such terrible weather was that the strecher was brought out 3 times throughout the day.

lofty oval is not as bad as barker or bridgy. drove past bridgy yesterday and havn't seen it that bad for along time. all you could see was mud and a bright yellow pitch in the middle! looked destroyed and would be interesting to see what happens this week with the game between loby and bridgy which i think is meant to be played there. with lofty the oval is alot firmer so although it is muddy its not 1 foot deep. with a bit of sun this week would hope it would dry out and possible a roll which would make it cherry ripe!

Sammy did play, as GTS said was unlucky not to play with Sturt this week but Reilly dropped late from Crows, flow down effect and the kid needed a game.
Are you sure Barker B Grade best team seen this year? I know that they beat Ironbank but Blackwood are surely the ones to beat? Barker may have played some good footy but not against us.
We want Vaughn.

Yes it was dam cold at Ironbank on Saturday. They say it was only 4 degrees C, when the hail hit, during the Senior Colts. Kym Graham, who was one of the central umpires had thoughts at one stage of calling the game off, the hail was so intense.

It wasn't that much better, after the A Grade had finished as the photo shows on one of the previous posts. The ground was covered with over an inch of ice & the fairways next door on Blackwood Golf Course appeared as if they were blanketed with snow.

Did any of the other games get the hail we had at Ironbank.

He is struggling this year - think Mt Barker are ruing the day they recruited him now. Hear he is sleeping with a number of the players wives at the club - which is not going down well. Wayne Carey of the Hills Central division.
Have even heard reports that he is doing the same at his work place Elders - he cannot help himself lately.
