First Class Cricket Talk (International and State)

SACA

Postby heater31 » Fri Jul 18, 2008 9:52 pm

I see that in today's Advertiser (pg 113) that the Association is calling for nominations for the board of management. John Bannon, Robert Hill-Smith and Andrew Sincock are the retiring board members. The retiring members are able to seek re election.

now for the rant................

It is time that the deadwood of the SACA is cleaned out of Adelaide Oval. This should start with the board. They are nothing but a bunch of free-loading nuffys and are too busy enjoying themselves in the committee room during International fixtures than to care about the on field performances of the Redbacks. FFS they announced that they were close to announcing the replacement for the High Performance Manager. They have interviewed the candidates and the media speculation is that Jamie Cox is to get the nod. Rumours are now circulating that he has got cold feet. I wonder why???????

It would be nice if a recent past player and captain of the state was to stand for election (No I am not talking about Nathan Adcock     ). He is not afraid to speak his mind and would ruffle a few feathers. But sadly I believe he will not stand due to certain individuals with in the SACA.

Maybe the members should vote for change and not vote for any individual for re election. They have had their turn and failed. Dismally!

If that recent past player and captain (and we all know who you are refering to) is making that reason for not seeking election, then he is entirely wrong. You don't go onto boards to make friends, you need opposite and varying views to be tabled, so I would encourage him to get on board.

I will certainly agree with you about too many people in the SACA just enjoying the social life at the moment, that is sadly true. It must be a South Australian thing because the Crows suffer the same fate. Too many jobs being offered to "the boys" and not enough attention being paid to the best and right people for the job.

Well, looks like Jamie Cox has been appointed now, although to me its strange he's continuing on with his role with the Australian team as a selector.

Lets hope he makes an impact at the SACA.

Definite conflict for Cox... let's hope he abuses it and we end up with Cosi, Cullen, Bailey, Dan Harris and Manou all on central contracts so we can afford to pay some decent players to come here...

I believe to nominate for the board you have to be a financial member. Perhaps he doesn't qualify.

I trust that fellow members received their voting papers in the mail today.

As I suspected there are 3 members of the Board seeking re-election and 4 seeking election including 2 women.

most are concerned with the Western Stand development and attracting other sporting events to the oval. FFS get the cricket department in order first then worry about this stuff.

for a passionate direction for one member to seek election and with some good ideas too. take a look at this for those with facebook Tim Dansie
