Crush, I see your point.
I'm just thinking that we have to remember that children are involved and a bit of responsibility (as you pointed out) is required on our behalf.

I'm not talking about any club in particular here, but some kids need to be suspended before seriously hurt someone.
There have been a lot of incidents I've seen in my involvement in junior football this year, which club umpires are too afraid to report.
Some are too afraid to even pay a FREE KICK!!!
A kid is going to get seriously hurt before something is done about it.
All club umpires were offered the chance to attend some RFL umpire training sessions at the start of the year and only 2 decided to go.
It should be compulsory for all club umpires to attend AT LEAST one of these sessions.

DW i agree with what youre saying, they are kids however the "kids" that are the problem are old enough to know better. most of the incidents ive seen amount to little more than bullying and intimidation which disgusts me. most clubs have 8 year old kids running around in this comp (which i think is great, kids wanting to have a kick regardless) and these little tackers have to put up with this sort of rubbish. CN raises a good point, perhaps all clubs have to appoint minimum 1 umpire and they have to do a couple of training sessions. perhaps incentives could be put in place to encourage people to attend or dis-incentives if they dont?
just an idea, trying to promote debate on what could be done to remedy the situation.

i dont know much about the colts but its Lyrup that has been brought up (not saying its all them as im sure every club has offenders)
but why wouldnt an Rfl official travel to a few games unannounced watch from the car or area where not noticed and view the behaviour of not only players but spectators aswell
surprising what kids will do with things being yelled out from parents and supporters thinking its ok cos they going off all the time

Must admit i have heard some very colourful language since travelling up and i would say its the only thing the amatuer league does better than Rfl is management of behaviour of crowds and club officials

The RFL will be appointing umpires from its own panel to officiate in Colts matches for the remainder of the season.

CM can you tell me anything that was said at the meeting? pm or here?

Ok Crushy here goes
All the indy clubs were there because East Murray and Moorook had both written reports in regards to the lyrup colts
The R.F.L (which do monitor this site) had done nothing to resolve the issues that Trev Norton had written about and let the RFL know all about it with a few well heated choosed words in which i agreed with him as did most clubs. The report that he wrote was in regards to smaller kids from the 2 clubs being seriously hurt, bullied, intimidation and a shit load of other problems that seem to occour when playing the Lyrup colts. E.M also said that there kids did not want to play them and a meeting tonight will decide if both the EM colts and As forfeit this week. Then a well know person from Lyrup stood up and brought up the subject of racialism. This is where i open by big mouth and with a few choose swear words and all hell broke loose with CEO stepping in to calm the situation down. It was then decide that all games involing the Lyrup colts would have RFL appointed umpires
The threat of smaller kids being seriously hurt in these games seems to of sparked the RFL into action

Thanks CM.
Seems a fair appraisal.
However, the measures being taken here are of a concern for Indy clubs aren't they? For the future of Colts? Just another black mark for those who don't care about the Indys to have a crack at the competition...

Thanks Cod Master. That clears a lot up.
Like myself a number of RFL followers were wondering what was going on. Great to hear it from someone that was there.
We all know there is an Indy club with problems, you only need to talk with anyone connected to the Ind comp, but it is also in the RFL
One kid inparticular thinks he can get away with anything and usually does in both Indy & RFL and the way some clubs act they seem to think it it OK. How would they feel if one of their kids were on the receiving end of getting teeth knocked out and the kid concerned virtually getting away with it. No wonder a number of our small guys are opting out of footy and going to other sports.

It would be great to make it compulsory for club umpires but my concern would be all umpires are hard to come by if we made it compulsory how many of the club umpires that are out there doing a decent job would decide not to umpire again.
Yes we must do something about this bullying and intimidating.

Like CN I think these kids should be suspended. But the Clubs could also be held accountable. Surley there is a Code of Conduct out there for the league and clubs.

Shouldn't have to have RFL umps for these games Sounds like these kids would no right from wrong but snub the rules.
I am not sure if the RFL Rep at the grounds would work because lets face it all the Commission are know to all clubs it would be impossable for them to attend any game and not be noticed.

Do you know something for sure a just gessing. CM
Can see their point if it does happen. Correct me if Im wrong do they have until mid day tomorrow to announce their decision.
Maybe this would be the way to get the RFL to really take these issues on board.

I don't think we have heard the last of it that is for sure
Could be an interesting week for the media

They do indeed have until midday tomorrow to lodge the paper work
Do not know for sure but if i was a betting man the odds would be in favour of a forfeit

Match forfeited 'the media' reported it this morning.

Don't think 'the media' take any great joy in reporting on this stuff. As a significant part of the Riverland media has a strong affection for this competition and can see the harm this sort of thing can do.

Yeah not good at all.
East Murray were unwilling to speak on the record though which was a shame because it could have shed some real light on the situation.
