The roar goes up as Barnes gets things underway! Australia start the stronger with some great territory theirs as they defend for now

Scrum to the Wallabies and they go blind through Palu and now Burgess in space!

He chips over, a la Januarie, and could be in here until a knock-on forced by Kaino saves the All Blacks!

Wallabies were in with a good chance there BUT credit to the All Blacks defence

Cross takes it over the advantage line and another free-kick comes 40-out with Palu charging on well!
The All Blacks are holding on here as Giteau and co. push them to their defensive limits.
Bad news for the All Blacks Brad Thorn though as he takes the ten high from the ref and is sent to the sin-bin!

Giteau scores the opening points through the penalty

Elsom claims the restart before NZ finally have some possession on halfway! Its taken them all of 10M to get past the halfway
However, the Wallabies force the turnover and look to pressure Muliaina chasing back...great work from the full-back to tidy up!

Australia are flying here as Tuqiri slips three after claiming a poor clearance!
The ball is recycled for Giteau and he has the simple task of gifting a try to the centre Cross for another Aus score

Giteau converts the extras and Australia now lead 10 nil

NZ may have a chance to respond in a frantic tempo here in Sydney. With free flowing rugby NZ race the ball down into their own half only to be stopped by great tackling from Ashley-Cooper to save his side on two occasions.
There's some serious points in this game for sure if this is the indication of how the game is going to be played

NZ are camped on the opposition line and have a full penalty coming...but Ellis turns down the three  to spin it out...and oh NO it's cost them! The turnover comes immediately as Giteau clears with a mammoth kick downfield. Surely this pace can't continue as Thorn returns from his earlier sin bin? Can these 2 sides keep up this free flowing pace of a game.

The pressure is huge as these HUGE gladitoral size teams continue to crash and bash their way through each others halves.
There are some very tall blokes for both sides towering over and around the 200 cms
Excellent game so far.

Excellent work from Smith at the breakdown once again to force the free-kick 45-out. But his work could all be in vein as Barnes' chip is charged down by Carter...can he collect the ball and stroll over..............umm NO, as he fumbles to the crowd's cheers  Australia come again on halfway...

The All Blacks push towards their line. Can the Wallabies defence hold them. Slowly but surely the All Blacks manouver the ball forward and finally they cross for a TRY through Muliaina. Conversion missed however

The pace seems to have dropped quite a bit for now and what do you expect after the opening stanza as both plan their next form of attacks.

The tension remains though for sure with spaces all over the field following the frantic opening half-hour!

What a play from Australia as they pack the open-side from the scrum 40-out. Giteau found half-gap before being hauled down by Carter, but the damage is done as a kick through at pace from Ashley-Cooper eventually finds the wing in HYNES as runs over the line and scores for the Wallabies.

Giteau converts and the gap is now twelve... How good is this man DEANS
