From the SFL fairplay?
This could instigate a reshuffle of the Country/Central clubs if the move does happen.

And Sturt 2s are top, Maybe if Sammy hadnt had such a big summer with the willow his shoulder would have healed faster?

Have also heard there is a team from Southern wanting to join Div 2 of the Hills. If my information is correct then its a long way to drive from Mount Pleasant to west of Willunga where the team is located!

been awhile since i have posted on here but anyway hey guys and gal,

If there is another club that is coming up into the Hill League surely they would be a good enough team to play A1, it would be beneficial for the A1s because of the disappointing year that the bottom teams are having. i am talking about lobey and bridgey, not so much birdwood they have shown since of improvement since there induction.....

I known i might get a bit a flack from this, but there needs to be a standard set in A1, its getting a bit far fetch when the top 4-5 teams are competitive and the rest are way off the mark. An Example is last week with Lobey Not even putting a score on the board it was cooper from lofty that rushed it. In this era of the game a team should be able to kick a least 5 goal in a winning margin like that.

The case of Sam miles he will get cleared to play for lofty only if he wants to... i cant see sturt giving him a games after basically a whole session out, he wouldn’t have much match fitness, i think if sturt did have any brains they would play him after a couple of games back at his listed club to get his match head and fitness up to scratch .... it will be interesting to see what unfolds.

Clearances wise, he hasn't played a game since last year (a Internal that’s it), he has been injured, so i cant see why he cant get a permit for lofty , he is entitled one...

Huge addition for the Devils if it happens, are the Double Blues 2's in the hunt for September? Surely that would be his priority anyway...

Huge games this Saturday night at Windy Hill, will further firm up the double chance spots in both A's & B's... anybody know what time both senior games kick off please???

As for Sammy, trained well (like he never was out of the game!). He is still at least 2 weeks away, the only reason he would be playing with us would be to get some match fitness under his belt. Although Sturt are top in the 2's, he is still under consideration for a Finals gig. This may mean he plays in our reserves team (or am I just dreaming?). However, if Sturt feel they will not play him in the finals, the Devs will apply for a permit for Sam on medical grounds. As he has all the relevant sick certificates, he will be granted a permit, as was Matt Penny who did a similar injury in 2005 (or 06) and only played the last 3 rounds.
The B grade at Windy Hill starts at 4.50pm, the A's at 6.30pm in what is likely to be the coldest game of the century, who plans a night game in the middle of a paddock in the middle of winter???
We want Vaughn.

Perhaps if the rumored incoming side has been playing in the one-tier SFL comp, wouldn't they be a chance to play in the top tier HFL ranks, where they mite SHARK a few wins against the lower ranked clubs? May be the chance for the powers that be to implement another division to enable the smaller based clubs to compete against each other. Any word on another rumor that Bridgewater and Hahndorf have been having a few unofficial discussions????
Also will Benno have the caravan out selling hot soup and hypothermia tablets on Saturday night at Windy Hill? :toimonster:

It's funny what you hear floating around the Green Shed watching Bridgey get flogged. Was listening quietly whilst sipping a port or two and herd the following. Open clearence to any Bridgey player that wishes to go into Country Div. That's how stubborn their committee members are about staying in Central Div.
If that's the case then this next bit of information will sure to be true for next year.
After sitting on the sidelines with a sore head I've herd "Banger Feijen" will not be playing at Bridgey next year. He's had enough of 20 Goal thumpings week in week out, and has indicated he'd like to play one final year with his brother "Monty". He indicated if Bridgey don't make a move to Country next year then he won't be there. He may have a few followers then too. Bateman & Feijen were out at pre-season at Meadows early this year.....may sign the papers for 2009 and be in the Green & Gold.
Food for Thought!

My info was that it is only one team that wants to SHARK in next year. I think Sedan are playing in the Mallee League next season, but not 100% sure on that one. Apparently the team that wants to SHARK in are getting sick of being flogged and want to playing in a competition where they can win some games, hence Div 2.

Can't wait for Saturday night. It will be great at Blackwood at -2 degrees, rain falling, nowhere to stand, and players struggling in the conditions to make a reasonable spectacle! Think I might stay home by the fire.

I have heard the same about Sedan.

To be honest the appeal of being competitive is a major plus for our football club but one of the main reasons will be to breed juniors properly. We have found it very hard to hang on to juniors with being belted all the time. Also knowing that the Hills league is adament about the family side of things that is a huge draw for our young footy club.
We love the feel of Country footy and feel in the SFL we are ignored and have had enough of nothing happening to help the struggling sides out.

By no means are we expecting to just walk in there are lengthy discussions to be had. We do not also expect to be a stand out in the Hills league. We are just looking for some decent opportunities to hang onto our local youth and develop a great family atmosphere for our club and supporters.

It is a long way off yet and given the oppurtunity we will certainly take it.

I hope you can all be as open minded as we are being in this situation and look forward to a new chapter in all of our clubs histories.

Gumeracha and Torrens Valley might consider their future in the Hills and consider travelling to the Mid Murray.

Talks of club amalgamations and changing from one comp to another always tend to come to attention at about this stage of the season. The same can also be said for the local cricket comps. However generally speaking very little of the speculation is ever followed up by action. Personally i will always doubt such rumours until they are confirmed by the clubs in question.

On another note this weekend should be an interesting one out at Balhannah where the Uraidla and Onkas will be fighting it out in what should be hard battles in both the A and B Grade. The uraidla a's will want the win if they plan on grabbing 3rd spot and a second chance from Mt Barker whilst Onka's will be no doubt fired up to try and snatch a go at finals football. And in the B Grade Uraidla will be fighting to keep their finals chances alive, thanks to Birdwoods acuracy in front of goals last week (or rather Onka's inacuracy) the cabbage cutters have been given a sniff at finals football.

Should be a good weekend all round. Mt Lofty v Blackwood will be a cracker as should Barker v Ironbank. Will be interesting to see how the Premiership table looks Monday.

I know Lofty are a good team and have been for a few years, but there are a few passengers in the team.

For example, Ollie Temme is one of the most over-rated players in the comp
