Brad Hodge will stay in Australia to look after his ill wife, Meg so missing the rest of the County season with Lancashire. The County released him immediately, so he can support his wife and son. Lou Vincent will be his replacement for the rest of the season.

VVS Laxman, the Indian batsman, will join Nottinghamshire in August to take Adam Voges' place after David Hussey, the expected replacement, was told to rest by Cricket Australia. Laxman will make his Nottinghamshire debut in the County Championship against Sussex at Hove on Wednesday 27 August, while Voges will make his final appearance against

Justin Langer has extended his contract with Somerset until the end of 2009, even though he will join the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL next year and miss the first three weeks of the county season.

Durham vs Yorkshire
The Twenty20 Cup quarter-final between Durham and Yorkshire was postponed after the England and Wales Cricket Board received allegations that Yorkshire had fielded an ineligible player in a crucial Twenty20 group match. Yorkshire have since been excluded from the competition. Durham will now play Glamorgan on July 22.

Mark Ramprakash has become the 25th player to score 100 First Class centuries, when he scored 112* for Surrey against Yorkshire. It has taken eleven innings since his last century in May.
The last player to achieve the milestone was Graeme Hick in 1998.
