Yes we relied too much on Carter's boot, to our peril. Gave away some astonishing penalties and not sure I like the whistle blowing tactics in the first half from referee Goddard. Someone must've had a word in his ear at half time though because that went away. However, another great physical match.

Thanks JAS - just made it very hard for us now :?

Wallabies first match this weekend while the Kiwis have a week off.

And we're away in this game.

Berrick Barnes starts the game with a deep kick-off to Matfield who is met firmly in contact.
Januarie (sick and tired you've been hanging on me) tries one of those chips from last week in a dangerous position...but Aus open the stronger with a scrum 25 out.

However, after several phases from the hosts, Ashley-Cooper fumbles in front of the imposing (ham)Burger.
The Boks clear through James before the Wallabies full-back lets loose with a high ball.
Taken well by Januarie.(sick and tired you've been hanging on me)

Boks kick into the in-goal area which ultimately leads to Barnes restarting long from his 22.
A penalty comes for the visitors for an infringement on the ground and here's the man with the big boot.

Moore throws short on halfway before Giteau sends one up into the Perth sky. (which is looking far better than yesterdays arctic weather)
Mortlock knocks-on in his contest with Habana and SA have the perfect platform to look for territory...which James(the names bond) attempts to do.

James (the names bond) doesn't look for touch though, which leads to a kicking duel ending in (jimmy)Barnes sliding one to touch 40 out from the SA line.
Better attacking ball for the Boks before Steyn has a shot from 50..............and its well wide!

The big figure of Spies(like us) returns with interest and slips the first tackle 45 out!
Smith needs to give it to Habana (coco kabana) down the left...but he's met very well by (jimmy)Barnes who forces the fumble! Can the Wallabies break from here...?

OH yes they can with Tuqiri breaking the line as he continues his impressive start!
However, the turnover comes deep in SA territory and Pietersen(not the cricketing one) hacks long with no one at home for Aus.
Hynes gathers under pressure and the hosts are lucky to get away unscathed!

Nice set-move from the Boks off the line-out sees Habana (coco kabana) spill possession after an excellent inside ball!
The Wallabies are contesting well on the ground so far as THE CLARET drips down the face of Elsom...scrum SA on halfway.

SA are adjudged to have collapsed that scrum as (jimmy)Barnes pushes the Wallabies down to the opposition 22.
What can they muster? ...um springboks
Nothing at all as a handling error precedes an awful drop-goal shot from (jimmy)Barnes!...stick to singing jimmy

Ashley-Cooper (the down hill skier's brother..NOT) is penalised just inside his own half for going off his feet at ruck-time...another distance shot for the Shark...which he pushes right off the poles!

Great work at the breakdown again from the Wallabies forces a turnover following Mortlock's grubber.
However, the SA tackles on halfway are forcing the errors as Tuqiri fumbles at the base!
Superb hits coupled with an attack lacking ideas!......oh well if you can't think then use your brawn

Hearts in the mouth time for the Wallabies as (fannie)De Villiers breaks the line on halfway.
It's handed on to Spies(like us) for the line but he's just hauled down before a Pietersen (noim not the cricketer) knock-on saves Aus!
It looked like a Wallaby hand though... 8-[ :-#

How costly could this Hollywood play from Australia be?!
Tuqiri threw a dangerous overhead pass to his full-back 20 from his own line, but not before Ashley-Cooper spins and spills.........oh no a chance for the Springboks

The Boks set it up from first-phase and here comes the second wave of Spies(like us)!
However, he can't hold that one 20 out with the ball finding him on several occasions tonight.
Even more welcoming sight for Aus as Jantjes slices to touch...is this the first score coming for the wallabies?
