Naughts is gonna have to have a massive last 4 games GTS considering he's only played about 3 games and is away for another 2 weeks on holidays

Nunan for the A's from Paul Richards
Red Clothier has played a few in the B's so he must be a certainty because the umpires love him!

My mail medal tips as I see it, it is out of 5:
Burch(Mt Lofty), Gigney(Blackwood), Wendelborn(Ironbank), Williams(Ironbank), Stansborough(Hahndorf)
My Darky for the medal - Tanner (Onka's) good little in & under ferrett - would have to be seen by the umpy's :supz:

The new umpires from Southern seem ok. Have the same grizzles about them as we do with the hills blokes, but isn't that standard with umpires. Would still probably prefer the best couple from hills to them.

I reckon across the board umpiring has improved! And im not one to compliment an umpire!
Had the best (most consistent) umpiring in the courier cup A2 final last weekend, ive had in either grade all year!
It's easy to stand back and be a hero robby, but your probably better off sending your CONSTRUCTIVE criticism to the umpires as to
benefit everyone. I know our club even went to the extreme, of having a short but useful session with Mick Taylor, where we
were able to sort out all our misconceptions of rules and how they are adjudicated.

Im not saying every umpire we have had all year has been up to the standard, but its not going to get any better if your only going to sit
back and slander the guys through a keyboard!

I think most of the umpires do a pretty decent job but there are a few exceptions as you would expect. I was saying the umpires are shit purely on the back of Mick taylor. He doesnt let the game flow and it becomes frustratin for supporters and players. Neville clarke is terrible and shouldnt be allowed on the mainland of Australia let alone umpire. dennis raymond for me is the best umpire, isnt soft and lets it flow.

Standard is better but I agree Mick Taylor can be too technical. Mind you I am not disappointed when I run out and see him umpiring. He is consistent. On the other end of the scale you have Trevor Morrison who has NFI about consistency. Agree Dennis Raymond is very good, along with the great man Trevor McDonald, tho the years are catching up with him.

Anyway, I'm still trying to work out what word starts with 'S', ends with 'T' and has 5 letters? Short? The umpires are short.

So what you are basically saying is the standard is better depending on who you have in the middle, but the umpires are still 's***t' (short!) as the ex-SFL guys have only replaced the couple of HFL guys that have retired or moved on.

IMO the umpiring is only as good as the person in the middle can react to a situation, if they can't do that well, they might as well join the supporters on the fence! And from current form there would only be a handful that can do this!

Taylor can be a little picky with his decisions but surely (by the previous remarks) people are aware of his umpiring standards and you adapt accordingly. Surely the way the rules are cmopared with a couple of years ago it's alot easier to be infront. Something we are told every week. What annoys me about the umps is that they wont talk to you when they have time just to explain things a little. This little personal thing can calm someone down and prevent a nasty incident from a frustrated player.
The umps are there to regulate a game not stamp their authority on it

No Silky, Steve Pringle single handedly got Mt Barker over the line in the 2000 GF!!!! I agree Dennis is umpiring well but he looks a little awkward running around with those little chicken legs!!

Butch Marston the second best umpire??? what planet are you on?

Can anyone confirm some coaching rumours. Has Paul Page already told Blackwood he won't be there next year, are Onkas looking for a new coach and what is Exebly's future at Ironbank.
