This match is going to bring them in from everywhere. Good luck to all involved. It's great for the competition.

Again cant really see how its good for the competition? its great for Waikerie - full stop. Renmark players might get a bit of a buzz out of playing in front of a big crowd but if Mods kicks a bag and they win what benefit going into finals?????
game should have been on a Sunday to prevent others clubs, including indys suffering with poor attendances

I can see your points, especially the Sunday bizzo.
However, I disagree it's not good for the competition - it lifts the profile, reminds people we're here and gives youngsters a bit more to aspire to. Its all good.

Anyone else unlucky enought to wittness the incident in the Lyrup v Moorook Colts game yesterday.
How can enyone justify a colts player or for that matter team acting like that.
There are no words to describe the disgust I felt after watching the striking incident.
No wonder a lot of our our young guys are being turned away from our great sport of Aussie Rules.
The Lyrup kid deserves the full force of the tribunal.
Maybe Lyrup footy club need to be held accountable for the behaviour of some of their players

I am with you on that one.
It would be interesting to know if there was a code of conduct attached to the $5,000 grant that Lyrup got.
If my lads played indy colts I (like a couple of other clubs) would have saftey concerns when that played
against the Lyrup Colts.

Before anyone asks, I didn't see it so can't tell you what happened.
I did see two kids sent off within minutes of each other though...not sure if one of them was the incident referred to.

im not sure of the incident either, however i did see the 2 send offs DW is refering to which were pretty average (only worthy of send off IMHO) and i have heard since the senior game (by people i trust not to exagarate) ended that there were some terrible cheap shots at the expense of some of the smaller blokes on the field for MKFC.
i often have mates/rellies from the city come down and watch the local footy, all of them comment on the size difference of the colts, my reply is always...the bigger blokes know to take it easy on the little kids and the little kids appreciate it cause they get to play footy. after the actions on saturday im not sure ill be saying it too many more times.

Waikerie v Renmark was one of the best games of local footy I've seen in a long time.
Standard was brilliant. Ryan Bennett's performance to upstage Ricciuto and Modra was fantastic.

Ryan was impressive, his marking was strong. i was having a chat to him after the game and he said he has kicked more goals than points on only one occasion this year, so he still has plenty to work on and improve too.

Mods was great in the Waikerie clubrooms after the game too, having a chat and posing for whoever wanted a pic.

Great showpiece of riverland footy.

Ive had the pleasure of chatting with Mods a few times after games when he was at Encounter Bay and association football and hes a top lad. Im not at all surprised he was accommodating of everyone and is jus a good country footballer enjoying times with the lads.

Well done on the Riverland FL for allowing this one off game, a great idea and the 3000 strong crowd would have loved watching the 2 guns go at it.

yeah your right. i plan on making the trip down more often with a couple of the guys that travel back to play. with a bit of luck i might make it to see one of your games at some stage, when do you play lyrup again.

i also thought Heath Deer was pretty impressive. he will only get better as the season progresses. A roving goal he kicked on the weekend was a gem.

Yeah Deery's getting better as the season goes on.
Pretty hard to tackle for a wiry little bugger.

We play Lyrup next Saturday at Lyrup. Is also the Oscars Night at the RRFC so should be a big day for Chuck Norris.

By the look of the Sunday Mail there was strong support for Mods from the Keith boys.
How did they and more importantly the town survive Saturday night ??

Best wishes go out to Loxton North's Daniel Hampel who's apparently been flown to Adelaide with a broken jaw. A very nasty one. Apparently they were looking for his teeth on the ground afterwards. A nice young lad from a good family - he'll get lots of good support.

I didn't see the incident but from what i was told it was not malicious and the loxton player involved was very concerned after the match. there were a few other goings on that had much more intent behind them.

Yep have to agree, Bennett was unstoppable. Given that Waikerie was at full strength you would have to say Renmark have earnt that top spot. A great day for local footy. Full credit must go to Mods and the heirachy at Renmark for the support of the game. I'd say most of those supporters from the Rovers will be back next week to see their side and that must be good for footy as it has brought supporters back to the grass roots.

Tall Jan? am i missing something. rhys and stephens had a bit of a go at each other throughout the match. stephens ended up with quite a shiner. pity we didn't attack the ball with that sort of ferocity until the second half!
