Dunno what its odds are but it ran a very good 2nd last race, so let'd hope for only a small improvement!

Tough Final. Our trainers other dog in the #4 the danger. #5 also to be respected.
Scratching no favors either, the 9 is a lot better than the 7 it replaced.
If he jumps and finds the lead, he HAS to rail better or might lose the spot, place chance.

Didnt see the race have been in bed crook, but from what Ive heard it was a shit fight to the corner, he was pushed wide and instead of staying wide decided to rail again... which lost his place

Young dog still learning, I assume, but can only assume from my position.

I'll have a word to Dean soon about plans and whats next. If nothing planned might be a good time to get to Darren if he still wants him.

Added this morning :

Now that I can make sense of things and do some study Ive had a look at last nights race.

First run when he jumped poorly, he went 23.76. The week after he ran 23.25 with the winner going 23.01 - this week despite running last, the winner went a scorching 22.84 and he ran 23.41 - so as you can see when looking at times he actually didnt run as bad as what it seemed, and was just off what he run last week. Bit more field practice in a few races and he will learn a lot more and hopefully be a better dog from it for us in the future.

Maybe he doesnt like the Gold Coast, who knows.... not enough info to go on to be sure, but this will certainly be a learning experience for all of us, not just the dog.

Whats next Im unsure, its a matter of when I can get in contact with Dean, he travels so bloomin much... and thats why I have said maybe we can get Darren to take him as its just not the updates but he would be able to give Simmo a lot more attention too and this cant be a bad thing.

Darren has Bar Tax from today, swap was made today at Casino so he can have a few days with Darren before Tuesday. As far as I know and understand, he wont lose his box 1, will stay in Deans name until the following day.

Dean agrees with our move.

He was trialling 14 dogs at one time today, and has another dozen to start trialling, so with all the travelling he does.... well.. not much one on one time.

So a bit more time up that way and once a few options have been exhausted we start moving around as first planned.

He will race with Dean as the trainers name on Tuesday night - or we would have to scratch.

BAR TAX - RECENT UPDATES

UPDATE 20 JULY

Darren rang me last night and I have to tell ya the phone call kinda blew me sideways. He was thinking about it and has decided that maybe he shouldn't of taken Bar Tax as he has too many dogs and pups coming through.

I feel sorry for the dog having to change hands a couple of times but no worries we shall kick along.

What it does mean is the dog will go to Richie Vrckoff's after the run on Friday at Casino and he'll have a handful of starts up there for him, let him settle in somewhere and not be shipped around - and then come down this way a little sooner than what I expected (Dapto area).

In the meantime I'll have to find a trainer but shouldn't be too difficult as I was asking around for Little Lautoka who is now heading north.

Unfortunate situation but not much I could do about it Im afraid and very grateful to Richie for being able to take the champ.

UPDATE 26 JULY

Hi Brad,

Simmo will be out for 2 or 3 weeks, his knee needs fixing (it's not very serious).

I told you yesterday that somebody had blistered around his knee, well they got it partly right but his knee needs to be put back into place (dislocated) & because he has had it for a couple of runs the ligament in the knee is stretched & needs to be tightened up (an injection of bone hormone).

I havent been right over him yet, i just had look at the knee to see what they were trying to do. I bet once his knee is fixed he will be a different dog.

Fully agree with your decision there Brad - Richie is one of the most knowledgeable people i know im the game.

If ever in doubt... call Richie. Next best thing to a vet!

The reason I think he ran like crap at Lismore is because Dean never gave him a look there. The reason he ran crap at the Gold Coast is because yes you guessed it - never had a look there.

Then add in this.

I also cant fathom why he was going to be raced at Casino on Friday when apparently it was such an obvious injury. Richie had the dog for less than 30 seconds and picked it up.

Why didnt Dean or Darren when they had the dog for longer?

I don't think in future I'll use any trainer up that way apart from Richie as he seems a lot more switched on and with the game than others Ive dealt with.

If there is a lot more improvement to come from Simmo then bring it on I say.

Hi Brad,

The knee sounds serious but in reality it is very easy to fix & normally you have no trouble with them.

If left undiagnosed & untreated it would take around 15 lengths off a dog. The dogs are in constant pain (explains his personality at the moment) & often walk with a slight hop.

Most people would think they have something in there pad & go to great expense trying to find what is wrong.

Box 7 & 8 is actually good for them, as i always say Blue likes to be boxed 1st & Simmo shouldnt knock him over.

The 1 & 2 dogs will be hard to beat.

First run back from Injury. Richie has worked his guts out on Bar Tax. Expect nothing first run back and lets hope for a good safe run.

Good news and bad news.
Bad news is the Forum's dog Bar Tax had to be put down because of severe injuries, I think the forum should stop sponsoring any dogs as both dogs we've had have been put down.
Good news is the dog I have shares in, Zambora Brad, came back from a long injury break to have a great first up win on Tuesday at Gawler, he's now racing at Angle Park next week, go you doggy!
