Not too sure but i wouldn't think too many people apart from the players families, would actually make the trip to Berri either. I know it's good sometimes to have a week off but we all get byes anyway. This weekend could've been used during finals time to get rid of that stupid sunday final.

I think its good to have a bye for it. It encourages blokes to play in the zone canival. If a local team had four of there top players out of thier A grade side then its a clear disadvantage. Im assuming this suggestion is coming from a bloke who has never had anything to do with zone footy or whos local team has never been in the situation where they would lose their tops couple of players to the zone games. If we have a year like last year, where the top 3 were very even, it could prove the difference.

Dunno about other players in this league but Rimmer and Southern both got a berth this year and MH Wilson is skipper. Great work gents.

Nope, never played zone footy. Just putting out an opinion. Love local footy & have had enough weeks off from it as it is. Hate playing in sunday finals too. Doesn't have the same atmosphere. The hosting club loses on the gate & bar, & unless you Monday off work it's a bit of a struggle. It might be un-professional but i always liked celebrating after winning a final.

As much as i hate Virginia & have no respect for them, the last thing our association needs is to lose another team! We need to attract at least one more team INTO the comp.

I agree woofo Still need virginia plus one. Can't really go south have to go north ,maybe riverton or eudunda . Would prefer riverton though too bloody cold in eudunda every time i go to morgan for a quiet time on me dads houseboat it drops about 6 degrees through that place.Brrrrrrrrr. I have mentioned paskeville before but rooster tells me it's too hard.

Went to watch a friend of mine on the weekend he plays for athelstone ,they played phos camden. Pretty good standard i thought .A2's is quite free flowing. Bear in mind, both these sides were top four. I think teams like mallala and hummocks could compete well in this comp, maybe the tigers but we are too unfit and playing a dumb type of footy at the moment.I think alot of our players have difficulties in following instructions and get lost in the game spectating, it's been a problem at our club for a few years now. Never the less we are not out of it by a long shot. The tigers are not done yet.

I don't know if any APFL teams would be a good div 2 side. I reckon depth and fitness would be the two main issues. I think the top APFL teams would be finals sides in div 3.

Beg to differ shrekki. I have also seen modbury as my son plays juniors for them .They are a very good side as well ,only dropping one game this year to edwardstown who are not even in the top five.Sure they have superior fitness but so to mallala .

Modbury would beat any team in the APFL by at least 10 goals, probably more. Most people are loathe to say that even the top country sides such as Mt Lofty are any better than a top 3 div 2 side. I remember going to see a Hummocks v United game a few years ago and thinking it was slow, disjointed and poorly skilled.

WELL, i went and watched divi 1 amateurs couple years back and hummock watchman port Wakefield eagles would have had no trouble being competitive. in fact the association ruck man that season was heath norton pt districts. he actually played B grade for virginia(could not make the As) a few years prior.

If by competitive you mean "get pumped by 20 goals" I agree. You are usually cryptic mate, so I'll assume that's what you mean.

I remember speaking to an umpire after a game back around 1999/2000 who umpired in town as well as country. He told me the top teams at that time (United Eagles Balak) would be top teams in Div 3. Not sure how that would compare with present day Sammy G? Interesting discussion though!

Would be great to get one of those teams into our league but the other side to that is they have to want to join us. How do clubs like that view our league? Agree with you 100% on not wanting to go further south. Keep it country. Does anyone know if Balak still have dreams of joining North Eastern league?

Should merge the APFL and NEFL and have two divisions and a relegation/promtion system. 8 in the top div, 7 in the bottom, or perhaps have a conference system as in the NBA.

Boys, if the "keep it country" refers to keeping Angle Vale out I think you are looking a gift horse in the mouth. Don't Angle Vale have a high number of junior players? Getting more kids into the APFL would be a key to having them play senior footy there.

Once Angle Vale reach div 5 and are good enough to be competitive in the APFL, they should be accepted with open arms. The only problem I can see is with getting netball organised there.

Yeah not too sure if i like the Angle Vale idea Shrek. Of course if accepting them meant the continuation of our league then i would just have to adjust but i think its getting too metro. There is a certain element surrounding some of those northern suburbs that i don't think we would want in our league. I guess i'm reffereing to ferals for want of a better word. Don't get me wrong, you get some people like that everywhere but the stories that come from some of those clubs in those areas are concerning. With Virginia & some of the players that Hamley dig up, i think we have enough already. If our league found itself on it's last legs though, i love your idea about merging with North Eastern!

Not a bad idea ogre, sounds like a good concept. Back in the late 90's longies had a very strong side only dropping five games in 2 years [2 of them being grand finals].Our skill level and ability to hit targets was second to none, hence Scott and sam Mc cardle kicking over 200 goals in three seasons between them. The standard varies from year to year.Still think mallala and hummocks could compete in div 2. But thats just my hair brain opinion.
