Spot on Punk, it is, doesn't even have basic things that cheap nokias have such as having the ability to send MMS, copy and past and much much more. (But you can PAY to get more programs on it! lol)
Similar to the IPod people are buying it because it has an apple on it or looks pretty.
There's dozens of better phones on the market for less price with many more facilities.

It'll sell as most people don't know what they're doing.

The O2 Atom, which I had early 2006 sounds very similar to the iphone, except it did have MMS, cut & paste, plus a whole lot of other features.

Seriously, what are the costs of running that sort of service? Is it really useful and good value for you?

I am a sceptic about the way phone services are marketed. I notice a lot of the plans that offer huge call and message allowances inside caps charge really high flag fall and call rates when you read the fine print. Most of the "benefits" offered by the telcos look like gimmicks to siphon money from your wallet to me - including promoting the idea is is impolite to not acknowledge and reply to SMS messages you receive - now that's a cunning one that really hooks the kids!

I have a pocket sized mobile phone I only use to make phone calls, and receive them when I want to. I only turn it on when I want to use it, as I don't want to be constantly interrupted. It costs me about $6.00 a month on an iSim prepaid plan. I never use its camera and haven't bothered to set up its Internet facilities, despite the fact I am a partner in an IT business.

I think the iPhone is a cute toy, and since I don't use the other services I'd look at one for its ease of use, provided I could put my own SIM card in it... but of course they are not going to let you do that if they can stop you.

TV is free Psyber, from what I have read on the phone it is a portable TV with phone capabilities. It isn't using downloaded content to support the TV.

Uh Huh, I'd wondered whether it was simply a tuner for free to air, or it had to be downloaded like BigPond video via a subscription.
I won't go for it as I watch too much TV now. I am trying to train myself to cut down.
I would seriously worry about people watching it while driving though!

I've got a house full of gadgets too, but I am resistant to those that come with an ongoing monthly price tag.
I even felt "compelled" to upgrade the tuning chip and turbo release valve in my car!

If you want the best, get the apple i-phone.

I am locked into a further 18 months of a Vodaphone deal. Of which I am 100% happy with.

N-52 double slide, or similar to that. My camera/video is fabulous.

6 months ago I tried for the i-phone but it was inavailable.

I just got an E51 Nokia and its great, the web browsing is amazing at broadband speeds, dont need to be at a PC anymore to check this place and others out! certianly great for doctor waiting rooms etc etc

Having worked for O2 in the UK who were the sole provider of iPhone connections, I can say the iPhone is outstanding. Personally, I'm not one for all the stupid add ons in phones on the market these days. IMO it's a phone which you use to make and receive calls and massages - that's it. The rest is just fluff to make kids spend their parents hard earned.

Anyhoo, I was the iPhone's biggest sceptic until I got to play with it. It's a seriously impressive piece of work and I'll definitely consider one when I get back to Aus if apple actually sort out a deal to distribute it there (and providing it's not a complete rip off like in the UK!!!)

I HATE all things apple, but the iPhone is great.

iPhones are manufactured in China by Foxconn.

Thats a worry.
We've had a series of problems with Foxconn motherboards and slooowww replacements of faulty ones, so we stopped using them fairly rapidly.
