On that note the ricky O debarcle! I personally think he must have rocks in his head  Where else is ricky O going to earn that sort of cash for 4 hours work a week? He has a special gift but yet chooses to waste it. SAD SAD SAD :( . With netball we at virginia for some reason :? have two netball clubs, the other playing in the barossa/gawler comp. Sport in general is thriving at ram park, great facilities, and the A's are back in grade 1 in the cricket after winning the premiership last year and the boys just cant wait to get stuck into the two wells boys.

I dont think results are too far away for the rams, they always competitive and just need a few things to go thier way for once. 2good4u whats Papanotis's story, one of the members of the coaching staff from Gawler Central say he's planning to head back there next season, as he was originally from there. Any truth to this one? Rams sure have missed him this year.

he is talking about his age(wants to play in finals) and might head that way to play with his brother inlaw IF mathew slade goes to gawler centrals. cant really blame him, the way local lads get treated out here lately. With a bit of common sence from the powers to be at virginia they might look at spending the money on a playing coach. For example offer someone like lindsey(retiered recently from sanfl) from the eagle, 1000 a week is very reasonable, but must be at least 3 year contract to make it work.

Wow by the sounds of things Phillips wont be in charge next year????

Do the locals get the raw end of the deal or are the local fans biased toward the local boys? Not saying this is the case just a suggestion.

What was the rocky O debacle all about?

If virginia are going to turn there reputation around then they should stick with phillips for the year. maybe recruit his daughter. after all coaching has a lot to do with the stock you have to run and even more to do with support from the appropriate places eg. presidents members supporters etc.

it is a show of strength and i think that they have improved this year. not the cheap hits going around the are concentrating a bit more on there footy

if i were booze hound i would maybe be looking for a more of family club. thats just my opinion though.

also good to see hamley push balak as balak are a great side who in the closing end of season are going to hit there straps. hamleys next win is very close.

also heard two wells were very unlucky on the weekend not to get over the line against the magpies. should make things interesting for final rounds of football

Agree Old School. Virginia should stick with Phillips for this season and learn a lesson that a coach alone will not get you success. Agree with less cheap shots being thrown which is good for footy.

Good to see you back twogood and even better to see you're not talking in riddles. I agree that you have enough locals to work with with Young, Starr, Seccas, Harding, Tsimiliakis having plenty of good footy left. The club has some good juniors coming through with the S/C finishing 3rd last year and up there this year in both Junior grades. I guess like every other club though the secret is trying to keep them playing for you once they turn into adults.

keeping them there is the going to be the hardest thing for sure. The culture of the club at the moment doesnt exactly sit well with familys. and you cant just change a culture of a club over night. it takes years for simple little things to be brought into place so that kids want to stay and become a 100game A grade player or premiership player at the the virginia club. It is a gradual process but the club by sticking with phillips will have started this change

well thats my opinion anyway and i guess thats what clubs like collingwood carlton and essendon have created over the years.

Derek has been a very handy pick up, started the year across half back then has moved into the midfield/wing. Had a couple of BOG's and played in the association team as a late call up.

Bit out of touch Jack? D.Hore hasn't played for Balak for probably 10 years.

What's his background Hazbeen? Where did he come from? Does he have a previous connection with Balak?

Derek is too slow with his meals (I have been known to wait for over an hour).
Mind you I don't mind his 3 hour happy hours on Friday nights with chicken wings as bar snacks

Not sure who suggested he'll be sacked but it would be pretty unlikely i would have thought anyway. For starters paying out coaches whom you have sacked and then paying for a new one at the same time is madness. Im sure they have faith in the big man, just need some of thier players to show a bit guts and determination. Take a leaf out of Youngys book. He is that far ahead of any other player at that club its not funny. I agree they have local talent but most of them are just plain lazy and dont give a stuff about thier clubs reputation. I clearly remember Philllips screaming at his players from the bench, begging for them just to have a crack. Its not good when the juniors of the club are watching this. There's no doubt they must stick with him and Im sure over time as these young locals develop and hopefully become involved with thier club, their passion and willingness the improve their club's image and reputation, will ensure they become a successful club again. Lets not forget the late 90's. They were a powerhouse.
