JANE McGrath, wife of former Australian cricketer Glenn McGrath, has died after a long battle with breast cancer, Cricket Australia announced today.

"It is with deep sadness that the family and friends of Jane McGrath, beloved wife of former Australian cricketer Glenn and loving mother of James and Holly, must announce she passed away at her home this morning," a Cricket Australia statement said.

"With Glenn and their two children by her side, Jane's wonderful life ended peacefully after a sudden decline in her health over the past week."

McGrath, 42, had surgery earlier this year and was recovering before complications set in, the statement added.

"Jane McGrath has left a lasting legacy through the McGrath Foundation, an organisation that is providing thousands of women hope - and support - in their fight against breast cancer," the statement said.

"The McGrath Family have requested their privacy be respected at this very difficult time

What a shame. Jane was a lovely person and Glenn must be devastated. My thoughts are with his family in their time of grief.

Tragic news. Jane is a person who was dealt a pretty tough hand yet did all she could not just to fight but to increase awareness and raise money to help future generations who may be in the same situation. What a wonderful and brave person. Condolences to all her family and friends.

Very sad news, I was shocked when I heard this. My condolences to all Jane's family and friends.

Jane showed she was a fighter and fought the disease to the very end - she and Glenn through their foundation, have done wonderful things for raising cancer awareness and raising funds to help find a cure for this pr*ck of a disease.

Devastating news, as had a bit to do with both. Really lovely lady, in a circle of people that could often be a bit full of themselves. Two small children who have to try and remember what they can of their mum as the years go by. Hard to find anything positive to say other than nothing but admiration for the work she and Glenn were prepared to do for the education and fund raising cause.
