Player Auction runs for the one-dayers only.

The A grade squad plus a wild-card(any player not listed), generally about 15 players to bid on.
People form syndicates or purchase players soley. The better players go for anywhere up to $700-$800, the fringe players usualy go for $50-$150.

Generally it would average out to around $400 per player which would give you a kitty of $6000. The club takes out 10% then the rest gets divided up into the seven one-dayers. This would be approx $770 on the figures that I've given.

It is totally on a point system for the games.
1 point per run
12 points per wicket
5 points for a catch
5 points for a NOT OUT
5 points for your part in a run out
10 points for a direct hit

The system works and it means someone is always cashed up on a saturday night so the club stays open longer.

looks good i know footy clubs take about 50% of the pool hence why your payout is good

what does the person who is forking 50-800 smacks get for there money??

The person/ persons who forked out the initial money get the winings, they give the player who earnt the money a cut. Depends on who bought you and for how much determines what you can get. I haven't seen anyone be stingy in the 4 years that we've run it, especially if you win a couple of times.

It's not uncommon for players to buy themselves, it makes you even more determined to keep your head down if you got a bad week for bills or something.

A coach doesnt have to do that much,you must be kidding,what about providing enthusiasum for 20 odd weeks,teaching temprement to cricketers,developing and evolving young cricketers,cricket is the hardest game in the world to master,pay peanuts get monkeys,hopefully not all P.D.C.A clubs think along those lines may as well be just a social get together on a saturday.

A coach doesnt have to do that much,you must be kidding,what about providing enthusiasum for 20 odd weeks,teaching temprement to cricketers,developing and evolving young cricketers,cricket is the hardest game in the world to master,pay peanuts get monkeys,hopefully not all P.D.C.A clubs think along those lines may as well be just a social get together on a saturday.

Our experienced club stalwarts are the ones we use to develop the younger players, all of our junior coaches play senior cricket for our club and under 15's are encouraged to train with the seniors. 9 of the under 15's played B grade at some stage last year, 1 of them won the bowling and fielding trophy as well as the association fielding, 2 of them played in a B grade premiership at 14.

That's where we develop our juniors, we'd prefer the coach to concerntrate on getting our A's into div 1, we have enough long serving players around for the coach to not have to focus on developing juniors.

Enthusiasm, if you can't mentally prepare yourself as an adult to play sport, you shouldn't be out there. Maybe I'm a bit off on my comment, it's probably trying to distinguish the difference between a coach and a captain, we've never had a non-playing coach, it could be on the cards this season.

It wasn't exactly filled with smiley faces etc. After re-reading what I had posted, it did seem that I was calling a coach a "figure head", I was more referring to a non-playing coach who can deliver a pile of expectations but isn't out there to make the runs or set fielding placements etc.

I've only ever had one non-playing coach, that was at Elizabeth Districts back in the early 90's, I listened to my captain more because he was out there in the field with me.
