Speaking of Willunga surely now after another 9 goals, HAMS is the favourite for the mail medal. I know he gets plenty of service but he is on target for 130 goals averaging 7.1 per match. No other single player is dominating their position as he is! Can he break the midfielders trend?

LF Theres no doubt Hams is having a great year, we look forward to Bomber Ryan being fully fit this week and having the pair of them up forward together again and Steve not having an injury like he carried from aboput rd3-4 onwards.

Hams on SAturday may have gotten 1 vote, Steele was brilliant when in the middle, Baxter was everywhere and is an umpires favourite so if those were the 3 to get the votes im tipping 3 to Baxter, 2 to Steele and 1 to Hams. However i agree with you totally hes been by far the standout of the comp so far this year for consistency, i believe his lowest tally in a game is 5 and 9 is his highest, an impressive form guide in anyones book fingers crossed he continues this form!

No votes 4 Tilt in a losing side BJ?

WoW he was very good but his side lost by 11-12 goals. Who knows he may well get some votes he was fantastic Saturday. If a Pongy player was to get in there Tilt for sure will be the one!

My tip is Webby from Compass. He's a vote catching ranga much like big red from EB a few years back.

Big Webb by all reports has had a great season but he wont win the medal. Early compass had a couple of close matches where it would have been hard to attract votes. He wouldn't have polled in the loss to Willunga and most likely didnt poll in the loss to Creeks. It would have been hard for a big man to poll in a close game aginst Strath in the wet and he didnt poll against us because he wasnt in the top 3. Thats 4 or 5 games where he wouldn't have polled, so unless he has 4 BOG's he is behind the 8 ball.

I reckon if Webbs got around 12 votes at half way he's well placed in a seaon where there hasn't been many other standouts. Although Hams is flying he's got too much competition with Steele, Portlock, Baxter and Carnevale also having good years.

Can anyone make a case for another player to be in double figures at this point?

Luvs Footy, how is it possible that Saints are on the bottom of the ladder, and show no signs of moving up, when so much was promised at the start of the season? Feedback was all so positive before the season with (apparent) great recruiting and it was basically promised that they would be a finals side. How many points is it costing to put this losing side on the oval each week? Seems like a bit of a waste of time, all this so called “great” recruiting.

Owen Love would be around the mark a picking up ones and two's here and there for his flair and stand out play in losing games.

First of all it is very disappointing to be where we are. But I think losing to compass by 9 points shows that we the potential to move up. I think if we win this week against Yank we can leap frog 3 sides. I think the competion is very even and of the 8 losses we have had 5 have been by 18 point or under, so if you turn those around we could have been quite easily been 6 and 3 and the turn and I would not be answering this question. We have halved a average losing margin from last year, against some teams (like Mt compass) we have had 70+ point turnarounds, we have 4 players that have kicked double figures in regards to total goals, against Yank we kicked our highest score for 3 years, against Mt Compass in the second quarter we kicked 7 goals which was our second best quarter in 3 years, we have 8 senior colts players that have had a taste of A grade football, we have 36 registered junior colts and we have a group of recruits who are ready to sign for next year. It would have been nice to play finals but its not going to happen. We just need to hang in there and continue to work on the positives. If we can win the 50/50 games our win loss ratio will be a lot healtier come round 18.

Fair enough Luvs Footy. Just one question you didn't answer, how many points is the club blowing week to week? Also, these new recruits for next year (and i am interested as to who they are), will they fit in under the points system? It seems a pretty expensive exercise at the moment "spending" points and dollars on the new recruits to be 1 and 8.
Also, is it a problem at the club? It seems to be in fashion at the Saints to promise so much and deliver little over the years. Especially this year and last. Is a review of all levels, including the coaching staff, necessary?

Regarding the mail medal, Baxter's my bet. Consistent poller at Willunga, and the umps love them.

Yawn! It all comes down to win - loss, bottom line. I dont see other under performing over talking clubs on here making excuses. Maybe in future you can simply wait till you achieve something as a club then get on here and talk it up.

Your right about the point of promising so much but delivering so little, in fact i still beleive that we should have won a flag when we had the likes of Gigney, Dennis, Thiessen, Davey, Cunnginham etc etc. I think one of our biggest positives is the fact that a lot of our 'new' guys are 1 pointers (Scott Wilson, Jarred, Paredes) and I know every club says it but we really are spending not a lot of coin. Our players that use up points are Wilson x2, Russell, Coote and Pudney, so we can probably add another 2 to the list next year. On top of this if we secure a couple of ex juniors (Kilsby, Jones, Campbell, McKinlay, Vick, Fox, McCardle) we can go forward. 1977 is a long time between drinks, but we will turn the tables (ONE DAY!)
