Australia's most "Over-Rated" Songs????

I'm a big music fan and are constantly buying CD's and collecting music.

and something i see far too often are songs that make it to number #1 in the ARIA Charts that are absolute rubbish

Songs such as

- Axel F -Crazy Frog

- The Crocodile song - schappi

- Anything by Casey Donavan.

These are examples of Australia's most "Over-rated" songs.

Can anyone out there think of any other songs thats are "Over-rated" or that they think is rubbish???

most of the stuff that comes out of Australian Idol for a start, and there isnt to many current songs on the radio that overly appeal to me, but im sure some people enjoy them.

ARIA Sales = Sales to record stores, not to the public.

The Aussie Idol singles get SO MANY copies sent to stores, it's impossible for them not to push the "award" (if you can call it that) for the highest selling singles.

I can not stand the AXELF Crazy Frog song.

I used to love the song when I had it in my old BBS days as a MOD file. Now I cringe.

I'd have to include the Macarena (sp??) and DJ Otzi's Hey Baby to those listed already ... Diss, Im with ya mate, if you ever channel surf the Fox music channels, half the time those adds are all ya see!

All 'chart music', especially singles sales are directed at and cater for the 10-20 age group with the specific aim of turning these young music buyers into regular album buyers in the future. This is nothing new. How many older people have got some truly dire and embarrassing singles (ok 45s if you are as ancient as myself) that you would never bring out in public due to the everlasting shame they would bring upon you.

A single of quality is a rare breed indeed. Most of the kids buying this stuff will eventually mature and start listening to something that is more decent. If you are in your twenties and you have reached this stage, please let me know which albums I should be buying to update my collection because in my not so humble, the last decade of rock well and truly sucks.

Forget the Hip Hop Sammy.

i will take my Hip Hop over that teen pop.
i stoped buying singles about 7 years ago, better off putting the $5 towards the album, i used to only get the singles for the bonus tracks, that you can download now anyway, and are usually crap.

Yeah i'm 21, i've got a lot of, what they call "Bar Grooves". CD's with not to much Doof Doof, just nice grovy lounge type music. perfect for background music while having a beer.

Another one is the Cafe Del Mar Series of CD's. They are nice and relaxing.

If you like this sort of thing, just go into a CD Store, go to the dance music section and you'll usually find the chillout section or lounge music section and ask if you can have a listen to some of them. see what you think.

There were probably a few dud besides, but I think most of these stand up over time. A bit of parental discretion on what crud kids buy goes a long way.
