I don't think that making a comeback would be all that hard for him to do.
He played for Hampshire right up until the start of the IPL, then has played every game possible for the Royals in the IPL, bowling and batting well (although I don't take much from T20 performances) enough to warrant selection.

I'd like to see Beau Casson get a shot first to show what he is capable of. I think the selectors would see playing Warney as a step backwards. Their line of thinking would be: he is good enough to play, but there will come a time when he has to retire completely and then we will be back in the same situation, if not worse.

I heard on the news that Warney now denies saying he could make himself available for the next Ashes series

Warney apparently has come out and said he was mis-quoted

Looking back at his quotes in this thread, maybe the media should have given more emphasis to his words "at this stage, it is a fairytale".

Seems to me he might have been lead into "gee it would be nice" comments with some speculative questioning, and then we have a COMEBACK headline.
In between signatures .....

You say fickle I say not completely blind. Warney is the greatest legspinner in the history of the game and even us Bluebaggers would admit that Stuey is nowhere near him. Not fickle at all my feathered friend..and certainly not fickle enough to be a Blackbird!

Anyway, my impeccable inside CA source reckons that Warnie will suit up for NSW next season anyway!

He could suit up for SA as a number 3/4/5 batsman too!

Whilst we are on the topic of Warney, he came out and said this to the media yesterday:

"I was very lucky to play under a couple of very good captains in Australia,'' he said.
"I played under some average ones as well - you can make your own mind up which one is which."

I wonder who he thinks were average (in his opinion) and who were very good...

I'd put that down as episode 19 of Warne v S Waugh and Gilchrist. It is pretty funny the way he just randomly whacks both of them every now and then, right out of the blue. Surprised he didn't find a way to gratuitously whack John Buchanan along the way as well.
Roger Woodcock -- 602 goals from a forward flank makes you a legend.
