Haven had at least half a dozen u18's in their side yesterday.. and take nothing away from these kids who have stepped up, but it showed in their skill level.

Porraka, quick runners with the ball, quick hands, backing each other up. Too good all round.

I was only there for half a game, did Demps fall of the face of the earth after half time? How did he not get a mention in the best players? Clearly their best player in the first half I thought..

full credit to Pooraka, They deserved the win...wanted the ball more than haven. Both sides has players out so no excusues. Would be good to see both sides at full strength next round. My tip is if you play Rory Duerdin on that Froggy, he would keep him closely checked, probly keep him to 2-3 goals. Couple that with the return of Forest for haven, will make next game very interesting. If haven got more numbers rounfd the footy, their class would blanket the bulls. Dempsey unstoppable.

I dont really know how the report eventuated, whether the umpires did it, or PAOC put in a complaint. All i know is that you couldnt use the visitor changeroom toilet, as it was blocked and there was sh!t smeared all over the walls ! Either way, it doesnt matter now, we will cop it and move on. I do wonder whether the report/complaint would have happened if we had of lost though...

Roaring Lion, i can tell you our B grade arent pace setters by a long way. We have played 1 good game this year - against Mitcham. The other games we have been lucky to get across the line - played pretty ordinary. We were completly outclassed by PAOC. It was a good tussle with Unley on the weekend, as it always is between the 2 clubs. We could have won with a bit of luck, but Unley finished off better when it counted.

As far as getting players back Roaring Lion, i think you will find everyone will be different second time around. I would hope we will be a better team in 4 weeks too. PAOC ones to beat, Mitcham after that. We are a long way off PAOC, a little way off Mitcham. Unley B grade will make the finals, so who do you think will drop out ?

Felch i agree with u & also think at the end of the home & away the top 2 B grade sides will probally be PAOC who are a very good side & Mitcham who will be in the mix but i do think they both can be beaten & finals footy is a differenet game!
As for the last double chance which will come in handy this year the other 3 positions in the top 5 at this stage it will be from any of these 4 sides in Fitzroy but we still need to put in a bit more consistant performances yet, Adelaide Luthern, havent seen this year yet but played them the last couple of years & be around the mark, Portland as sounds u boys are in the same position as us & Unley who are a young quick side i also rate, i wouldnt rule out North Haven either as they have improved but think they will find it hard to make the finals this year!
IT'S US AGAINST THEM!!!

I don't know about Adelaide Lutheran Roaring Lion. We played them on the weekend (not me personally...but the club  ) and their B's weren't anywhere near as competitive as your mob were last week and our side was probably a fair bit weaker than it was the previous week too. So I really don't think Lutheran are much of a threat at this point. Although the Fitzroy v Lutheran game next round will be interesting.

I haven't seen Mitcham's B's yet, but out of the rest Fitzroy were by comfortably the best competition we've had (sorry Felch). You've got a couple of good midfielders, a solid full forward and if I remember correctly your ruckman isn't bad either (not to mention tall!). Fitzroy will definately be around the mark come the business end. I'm not sure what the result between the lions and portland was but from what I saw Portland have a bit more work to do than your mob do at this stage.

As for Unley I reckon they'll struggle to make the finals. I would've thought about putting them around 5th/6th until they lost to CBC on the weekend. No offence to any CBC fellas but their B's are a rabble and would get beaten comfortably by a lot of the C grade teams I'm sure and Unley are in a position where they need to bury teams like CBC if they want to even make the finals.

Anyway enough about the magoos. What's the deal with Pooraka's A-grade being so good? I can't remember the game we played against them but there doesn't seem to be any depth at the club. Are they winning off the back of a couple of gun players? I've heard people starting to seriously talk them up, but surely with such weak ressies and c-grade they 'd be in a bit of strife if they suffer a few injuries? North Haven look to be in the same boat to me. I mean it's not even half way through the minor round yet....injuries will start to hit home soon, wonder where that will leave these clubs? :?

Great work by Pooraka, they got ridiculed on here earlier on in the year as no one was beating their chests from them. There were topics opening up to discuss their demise, to their credit, they have done exceptionally well so far. In saying that, we're not even half way yet so a lot can still happen.

Division 4 seems to be full of surprises, tips are harder to pick than a broken nose. Great to see.

Kicking 8.5 is a great effort, especially seeing he was playing B grade 2 weeks ago. Made the most of his chances for sure.

falcon chick

i watched the whole north haven vs pooraka game and as you said dempsey was clearly best of field for north haven, im not sure about how they pick the best players for the paper but i did make it back down to the club just to see the best players awards they gave out.
out of the 6 best there were at least two of the under 18s in there who you said something along the lines of there skill levell isnt up to it.
i disagree with you completly i think most of the younger lads skill are of a very high standard if anything its body shapes and size were they are lacking. And just finishing Dempsey was givin best on ground at presentations for you falcon chick

Maybe they take into account the attention Dempsey would be given week in week out if he was always named best in the paper. Smart thinking i'd say protecting your gun player, at the same time naming younger players in the paper can give them a little more confidence.

As I said, it's hard when you only see half a game, maybe the kids took a little while to warm up. I've seen some of your 18's at work, especially Tom Lipson.. very impressive..

perfect example of what i was trying to say falcon chick, the kid lipson i believe also known as turtle is a star in the 18s but just looks extremly light framed playing against men, to me also looks like a bit of a confidence player. first one back from a crook knee and will be much better for the run on satday and come finals time if he can string a couple of games together in tandom with forrest should be the ingredience for a potent forward line come buisness end of the seaon.

Some interesting results on the weekend. Fitzroy beating Mitcham - good to see hey finally got some reward, for their sake. They are definately a better team than their ladder position suggests. That can be said for a few others aswell.

The B grade had some interesting ones too - CBCOC beating Unley !!! Looking at the team lists, CBC did have a couple in experienced players in their ressies though (Konopka and Hegarty). I know we havent been playing good footy in the B grade, but CBC gave us a bit of scare, so they have been on the improve. Unley ruined their good work of last week. The race for 4th and 5th well and truly alive. Fitzroy will get one of those spots (maybe higher?), i still think Unley will get the other one. Mitcham vs PAOC this week will be a good game. looks like Mitcham are getting back to form. We didnt play well again vs Pulteney on the weekend, but somehow manage to still be 3rd. Our early wins against Fitzroy and Mitcham have helped us no end. We need to pull our fingers out after the bye - including myself. Alot of my time and effort this year has been directed at the A grade, as it should. I know we have alot of improvement in us, once we settle a side. Time to knuckle down, and find that spark from last year, because there are plenty of sides breathing down our neck, after our top 3 spot.
