I haven't seen Kev Thomas play since juniors so it makes it hard to judge.

Good to see Darren Ellis get a mention, a very accomplished batsman even at a young age.

Sorry norm11, I probably do rate you if you do, I didn't get a mention either, hopefully someone acknowledges us at some stage.

Just joking with u mcqueen. I have always been told i am over rated and past it.Like i said before {ROLLS} we are entitled to our opinions.

Bomber can only make runs against the bowlers that he plays against. He has won three div 1 medals too. so they have to count for something .

I will never forget facing Glen North when i was first playing senior cricket , he bowled a bouncer at me that i will never forget . A couple of guys at smithfield were also very sharp.

Fair enough on the opinions. Its just that my opinions are always right ha ha ha.

Yep...Colin Rundle was very sharp for Smithfield back in the day....before he lost the plot.

Those medals are a farce...and I'll tell you why. Adam Ozolins - A chanceless 205no and 3/18 in a game where Salisbury West smashed Rosies (All out 105 or something). Brenton Jenner got 3 votes for his 32, Andrew Parkhouse 2 votes for his 60 odd and Leon Kent 1 vote for his 3/90. No votes for Adam and if you have played against him, youd know he doesn't chirp excessively....and if he did, no votes for that performance ?

Ozzie made 900+ and took 25 wickets for the season, yet wasn't even invited to the association medal dinner as a top 2 candidate from his club.......interesting.

Lightning McQueen wrote:It's a bit quiet on here, might have something to do with the time of the year, so here's some discussion, who are some of the best players the PDCA has seen over the years. I'll name a few.

Batsmen
Corey Roberts (SCCC) was always a handy wicket to take
Dave Dohleguy (PGCC) had all of the strokes
Rob Howe (Craigmore) still knocking up the runs
Jason Presland (CDCC) very consistent over the years

Bowlers
Kenny McConnell (EP) very fast when on song
Gary Sutton (ATCO) used to go pretty well, can still produce a handy spell
Benny Stamatovich (TW) makes you work for every run
John Robins (SGCC) very accurate left armer from a while ago

Dude, seriously....

I have agreed with everything you have posted regarding this comp up until this point. Including blokes from grade 2 like Sutton ? Come on man...

Here is your list -

Batsman -

Adam Ozolins (Sals West) Best player in the comp when he was playing. End of discussion.
Jamie Sibbick (Brahma Lodge) Class act in a consistently average side.
Darren Ellis (Central Districts) Ex district player....very hard to get out.
Ben Stamatovich (Two Wells) Suspect against quality bowling but his record says it all.
Mark Elliott (Sals West) Different era....but Super was an amazing player.
Dave Tompkins (Para Teachers) Same era as Super....amazing.

Bowlers -

Shaun O'Brien (Sals North) Was the gun bowler for many years.....pure quality.
Dwayne Jones (Central Districts) Fast and accurate....and at 6' 7" was hard to face.
Kevin Thomas (Central Districts) Ex A grade district player.....was a class above this comp with the ball. If only he'd bowl off his full run.
Glen North (Sals West) Was the quickest around for a long time. His record speaks for itself.
Tony Carpientiri (Sals North) Best spinner around over his time. Good player.
Robert Drake (Sals West) Ask anyone around at the time whote they thought of Robbie. Gun left armer.

Mentioning Howe, McConnell, Dolheguy and Roberts in the same breath as these blokes is a crime.

We are all entitled to our opinion why is every thing u say right and what others say wrong? How does micheal burdon not get a mention? If its a crime then lock me up and throw away the key

Settle down chief. If you've played as much grade 1 cricket in PDCA as I have, you'd have more of a clue of these players.

Bomber you ask.....well if your need someone to beat up on poor bowling, he's your man. If you can list the number of times he's made big scores against teams with genuine quicks and have a list greater than 10-15 (considering he's been around a hell of a long time) I'd be very surprised. Ratters is by far and away your clubs best player.......pity he breaks down all the time.

And I will stand by what I said......compaing Gary Sutton and Stamma to the likes of O.B, Kevvy Thomas and Dwayne Jones etc is laughable.

Yeah, I gathered that, I'm the same age as JS, no way near as good with the bat & can't sustain long spells with the ball anymore to get him there, and Roycie, I'm not CP, not from Eastern Park at all.

I take it you two guys know each other, I'm sure we'll all have a laugh when we work it all out. I'm racking my brain aswell trying to work out who you guys are.

I'm not on here to bag anyone, I try and find the positives out of all of the rival clubs, there's d!ckheads and top blokes in every club.

Not sure yet, our A's need a coach and have a lot of late teen/ early 20's players, our B's should have a good blend of age and youth, C's and D's, who knows at this stage, we have a lot of kids coming through. I'm a spare parts player now, I don't know what I want to do, either way, it will be whatever is best for our club.

I think we've all been animated at one stage of our careers. I used to be a fair peanut at times, now I try and calm everyone else down, it's more enjoyable when you learn to chill out a bit. I still have my moments, they are just few and far between now. If I get to p'd, I'll just try and send a few quicker ones down for a couple of overs, then I'm too buggered carry on.

We have more of a laugh sledging each other rather than the other teams anyway.
