What happened with him and Two Wells, I've heard a few stories, too many opening bowlers was one of them, no one wanted to get the older cherry.

It's a bit quiet on here, might have something to do with the time of the year, so here's some discussion, who are some of the best players the PDCA has seen over the years. I'll name a few.

Batsmen
Corey Roberts (SCCC) was always a handy wicket to take
Dave Dohleguy (PGCC) had all of the strokes
Rob Howe (Craigmore) still knocking up the runs
Jason Presland (CDCC) very consistent over the years

Bowlers
Kenny McConnell (EP) very fast when on song
Gary Sutton (ATCO) used to go pretty well, can still produce a handy spell
Benny Stamatovich (TW) makes you work for every run
John Robins (SGCC) very accurate left armer from a while ago

I couldn't put him in both lists, besides, I can't recall playing against him when he's posted a big score. I am fully aware that he is very talented and a great bloke/ sportsman

Dude, seriously....

I have agreed with everything you have posted regarding this comp up until this point. Including blokes from grade 2 like Sutton ? Come on man...

Here is your list -

Batsman -

Adam Ozolins (Sals West) Best player in the comp when he was playing. End of discussion.
Jamie Sibbick (Brahma Lodge) Class act in a consistently average side.
Darren Ellis (Central Districts) Ex district player....very hard to get out.
Ben Stamatovich (Two Wells) Suspect against quality bowling but his record says it all.
Mark Elliott (Sals West) Different era....but Super was an amazing player.
Dave Tompkins (Para Teachers) Same era as Super....amazing.

Bowlers -

Shaun O'Brien (Sals North) Was the gun bowler for many years.....pure quality.
Dwayne Jones (Central Districts) Fast and accurate....and at 6' 7" was hard to face.
Kevin Thomas (Central Districts) Ex A grade district player.....was a class above this comp with the ball. If only he'd bowl off his full run.
Glen North (Sals West) Was the quickest around for a long time. His record speaks for itself.
Tony Carpientiri (Sals North) Best spinner around over his time. Good player.
Robert Drake (Sals West) Ask anyone around at the time whote they thought of Robbie. Gun left armer.

Mentioning Howe, McConnell, Dolheguy and Roberts in the same breath as these blokes is a crime.

Settle down chief. If you've played as much grade 1 cricket in PDCA as I have, you'd have more of a clue of these players.

Bomber you ask.....well if your need someone to beat up on poor bowling, he's your man. If you can list the number of times he's made big scores against teams with genuine quicks and have a list greater than 10-15 (considering he's been around a hell of a long time) I'd be very surprised. Ratters is by far and away your clubs best player.......pity he breaks down all the time.

And I will stand by what I said......compaing Gary Sutton and Stamma to the likes of O.B, Kevvy Thomas and Dwayne Jones etc is laughable.

I was trying to open up a discussion and I was successful, I've played senior cricket since 1990 so I could've named sh!tloads. I have the utmost respect for all the players that have been named, I can only comment on players that I have played with and against. I haven't seen Kev Thomas play since juniors so it makes it hard to judge.

Good to see Darren Ellis get a mention, a very accomplished batsman even at a young age.

Sorry norm11, I probably do rate you if you do, I didn't get a mention either, hopefully someone acknowledges us at some stage.

Early 90's also mate...

I've played A Grade district cricket and Adelaide Turf. Gave the game away though as my body was starting to get beaten up. I have no doubt our paths have crossed at some stage.....but the joys of internet anonymity will keep it a guessing game :D

Craig Laird.....excellent cricketer. His best cricket was at Pooraka though.

Shaun....no doubt he hasn't played enough grade 1 cricket to mentioned in this group. But has been a very good player for the mob on Yalumba Drive...

I'm hearing you mate about the body thing, I take it you bowled a bit then. I still play, mainly B's, A's when required, I'm rapidly deteriorating now both in skill level and body.

Carpo, interesting selection, very smart player, it was always a test trying out them invisible gloves. Drakey & Glen were a great bowling partnership, Drakey would clean up with his cricket brain as everyone wanted to cart him after facing Glen.

Just joking with u mcqueen. I have always been told i am over rated and past it.Like i said before {ROLLS} we are entitled to our opinions.

Bomber can only make runs against the bowlers that he plays against. He has won three div 1 medals too. so they have to count for something .

I will never forget facing Glen North when i was first playing senior cricket , he bowled a bouncer at me that i will never forget . A couple of guys at smithfield were also very sharp.
