2 years ago english soccer announcers were calling gerrard the most overrated player in the world cos he never scored in big games. The problem with those clowns is tha for you to score in big games ytou have to actually play in them which liverpool did under houllier.Since liverpool have actually started to make finals he is scoring at an alarming rate. goals in champs league finals,fa cup finals and league cup finals, against quality opposition as wellHe must now be rated up there with the best of them

If you get onto the Liverpool website and read the comments from his teammates most ofthm consider him to be the bet in the world ... Big call I know, but he certainly fits into the best 5 or 10 without doubt for mine!

Definately in his peak time. He is 25 and should have a decent crack come world cup. Some good odds for the "Golden Boot" at the WC. Get on TABONLINE and centrebet to check out the markets.

I dont think we realise how good his goal in the 89th minute of the FA cup final was. Absolutely stunning. Admittedly, I didnt really follow the soccer until I lived in the UK for 6 months last year. This year Im over here again and you really start to appreciate how good some of the top players are.

I wouldn't call him the world's best... i reckon Little Ronaldo is, and Henry up there too but he certainly is a great player, a fantastic skipper who leads from the front and regularly scores skipper strikes. Is this his first World Cup? He missed the last one because of injury and England suffered because of it.

I'm not a Liverpool fan either, i go for the Red Devils.

Im pretty sure it is Marty, can't see he would have been selected in 98' and as you've said he missed 02 with injury ... I don't know that I'd rate Stevie G as the worlds best either, your two selections are pretty good btw (although Ronaldo seems to have dropped off a little) ... The two latest Chelsea signings (Ballack and Shevchenko) would have to be close to the best players in Europe along with Henry, Lampard and Gerrard for mine (Rooney will be there one day if not already)...

Hopefully you realise i meant Ronaldinho.... not the leading scorer from last World Cup Ronaldo because he has dropped off.

Ballack is probably Germany's only class player, and Shev is a gun striker, Chelsea will be even harder to beat in the Premier League next season thanks to those two signings.

Rooney isn't among the world elite just yet i dont think, but he will get there. Looks doubtful he will play in Germany though.

If i remember correctly, Stevie Gerrard was crunched in a late tackle last game of the season in 02, shocking two foot tackle and he was carried off. Can't remember who it was against, maybe Southampton or something, their manager publicly shamed the guy who floored him.

Wondered if you may have meant Ronaldinho, makes more sense in that case ... Can't recall who layed the tackle on Gerrard that cost him a berth in the last World Cup, but I do recall the uproar ... I guess it was just a case of what goes around comes around after a deplorable Stevie G tackle wiped someones season out (George Boateng I think) either that year or the one before.

As for Chelsea yep, I think you're right .. Despite the fact that they basically won the title in a canter yet again, they look like being that much stronger again next year!!
