Jury is still deliberating on Katich and Hodge. No doubt. Katich is sitting on the precipice at the moment and a poor tour will result in him being pegged as a good first class performer who couldn't attain the same level in tests, rightly or wrongly, just like Michael Bevan, David Hookes and Graeme Hick to name a few. Hodge will get more opportunities than Katich you would feel simply on the basis that his early record is promising, he already has a score in this series, and the fact that Katich has already had a few. Although having said that, surely the standard of the Windies bowling attack is about that of a first class bowling line up, or even not even up to that standard.

Sad to hear that Hayden may be forced into retirement due to injury. Would be a shocking way for one of the greats to bow out of the game.

Considering that almost every player considered for the opening role is a lefty, what does this say about left handed opening batsmen? Does the LBW rule in it's current guise benefit left handed batsmen, especially early in the innings?

This guy is not test standard, whilst he made plenty of runs last season, it is well known there is a BIG gap between shield cricket and test cricket and it is PROVEN that Katich and Hodge can't take the step up.
