I dont think walkies were that great on the weekend, & will find them self in the bottom 4 as falconchick said.
Raggies should have 4 inclusions back this week - in which i cant see where you would place them considering the boys have played well in the last couple of weeks.
Especially Woolford & stephenson.

Yes - Malcolm grossman is out at the raggies & yes what a huge loss for salisbury to have abloke like grossy walk out. Last years best & fairest winner & looking good for a top 3 b&f
finish this year.

Should be a good battle against pembroke - in which the boys aint taking lightly....
I like to see John Labella play A's before heading oversea's - that is one thing the raggies A' grade side is missing at the moment - a hard running backman...

and in saying that i hope i dont put my foot in it this weekend. PNU V Walkies clashes are traditionally hard and close games, with the last 3 or 4 previous bouts being decided by a kick, although im tipping this clash not to be so close...with any luck

My opinion from the wing

Postby swingman » Tue May 16, 2006 12:24 pm

Athelstone are definitely looking the goods this year - but one thing i cant understand from saturdays win against walkerville is-
A) Mark Fenton (blonde hair fellar) in the B's - whats he doing playing B grade footy when a bloke like that is so versatile around the ground where as the other 2 ruckman are just ruckman.
B) I am impressed with Adam Waldon game on the weekend & i didnt think much of him at first but he has got better as the game went on.
C) where did the club get this Scott Thompson from - His in a class of his own. (very smooth)
D) Chris Robertson was running water on the weekend (why isnt he playing) - the backlines is to heavy & slow & missing his pace....
E) Captain Keven Hooper - is a fairy and runs around the forward line looking for the easy ball out the back.... I havnt seen him go in for 1 hard ball all year. Why isnt he playing on the ball instead of sitting out wide in the forward lines. what a waste.
F) Luke Abell is so much more dominant in the backlines then the forwards - what were they thinking he looked loss out there.

Ok the club is sitting top which is great but still alot of improvements -

Can anyone answer some of these for me....... Thanks

Did Abell play forward against Walkies? When we played Athelstone he absolutely dominated at CHB, looked like his natural and best position to me...

Luke Abell Played at CHF for the whole game against walkerville, & pag you just proved my point he was brilliant at CHB.....

Unfortunately injuries to key players may be forcing some changes at the selection table. It was probably that Luke was the best player available to fill CHF last week.

Some very good points there Swingman - I can answer some of your questions
A) I agree with you there but mark fenton needed a run in the B's to get his confidence back & is definitely a required player in the A grade. He has great hands around the ground & im sure he wont be far of from playing A's with 2 good performances in the B's the last couple of weeks
B)Adam has been impressive this year & the club is able to play him in more positions then 1. Very mobile & can kick a ball amile.
c)Scott thompson is a mate of chris robertson. He came from W.A & has proven to be available player.
D)Chris robertson Is due back this week against pembroke & will provide drive out of the backlines & may play up forward to kick a goal or two
E) NO COMMENT
F) Because of injuries - the club placed hardman luke abell at chf to provide his team a contest but due to the small ground, it didnt suit any CHF because the ball was going straight over his head. But without doubt luke is best suited at CHB

I hope this cleared some issue's up... feel free to respond.

Your kidding yourself swingman, keven hopper has kicked 19 goals in 4 games & is required player in our side.
The way he gets into the right position & away from his opponent is quite enjoyable to watch,
and he plays a permanent half forward because the club want a hard running forward along with Clayton Whenan in the forward lines.
I like to see kevin hopper play in the middle but when you have the players like malcolm grossman, scott thompson, steed verral & adam waldon playing in the guts why would you bother unsettling the onballers.
Let hooper do what he does best & thats kicking goals...... keep an eye in the paper this week
i bet he kicks 4 or 5 goals.

Games this week are...

02:15 PM Prince Alfred OC v Pooraka Proposed Park 9, 44
02:15 PM Eastern Park v Salisbury Proposed Dwight Reserve, 12
02:15 PM Athelstone v Pembroke OS Proposed Torrens Valley Oval, 3
02:15 PM Old Ignatians v Flinders Park Proposed Hunter Park (railways) West Tc, 39
02:15 PM Payneham NU v Walkerville Proposed Payneham Oval, 49

And my tips....
PAOC, Eastern Park (sorry Pag), Athelstone, Old Iggies and PNU (kiss of death again FalconChick).

Div 3 - Athelstone vs Pembroke

Postby swingman » Tue May 23, 2006 9:15 am

Obviously i was watching a different game to the people who selected the best players. As soon as the goal hogs start playing for the team instead of themselves opposition sides watchout duigan is butchered nearly every week. & why does warner kick out with his rainmakers? otherwise go raggies....

(Key Words) - Your kidding yourself
Hard Running
Enjoyable to watch
Plays permanent half forward

Your wrong cruzn9 & i was right, Hopper is a HOG - the bloke kicked 4 goals 7 points & so many
times he could of handballed to a team mate instead of taking on players & butchering the kick.
The sooner he is moved from a permanent half forward the better your forward line will be.
(Or he learns to give the first time - & playmore up the ground instead of sucking out back)
He should be playing in front of your CHF, instead of behind him looking for a easy ball get out the back. Am i the only one that can see this.... He crowds your forward line, not allowing your forwards to run into space...... Open your eyes Guys
The bloke is the captain of your side & plays as a individual.....
