How has Sam Mahony form been since he stepped into the senior coaches position (is he unlucky not to be in the RMFL squad or didn't he want to be?)

Word has it around town that a few teams will have a number of players missing this week. Matches may be closer then first thought.

Is Mahoney under 25? maybe that is the reason he's not in the squad. Another example of this stupid rule. Bring back the lovelock in all its glorey. Players will jump at it then. Guarenteed!!!!! :ANAL:

Golberg you seem to know a bit about Jervois. Can you let us in on why they paid good money to attract Baylis as a ruckman only to go out and buy Frankfarter for even more?

Not sure they knew they would be getting Fraun for sure, so signed Baylis knowing Fraun is a zero pointer because they signed him last year before the cut off point, in the 1 off opportunity for clubs to do so. With Sam's contacts at South I think they still have another zero pointer to chase aswell.

And on the issue of money, I dont think they really care how much is spent, as long as they keep winning! Long term damage is being done, but the club is going through the best era its ever had, & is blinded by its success. They need to be careful, thats all !! Great to successful, & good for them in doing so, but lets hope they have a long term plan aswell. The one thing they have done, is Raise the bar for all other clubs in the RMFL.

Mahoney, Ewer, Rigney, Schmidt, maybe a couple more have probably been the best recruits of any club in the last 4 years. For 1 thing, they are all still there. How often do you get 4-5, 4-5year recruits at once. If there is 1 thing they get right, its that. Recruiting. However when you have as many as Jervois, the %'s are easier.

I thought the rule was that the players needed to play a game or two last year to be treated as zero pointers. I think Joe Pedler played a game or two. A bit farcical if they could sign them last year and be zero pointers in 08 even if they didn't play a game at the RMFL club.

Goldberg, alot of clubs get 4-5 recruits a year & more yet its their own fault if they can't keep them for the same period.
Jervois should be commended for their ability to keep players at the club & its not only money that keeps them there, their a very close knit bunch of blokes that stick together on & off the field which has resulted in premiership glory 4 years straight.
As far as the %'s are easier quote, what a joke, nothings easy, its the clubs ability to target the right character of players & make them happy with their surroundings ( clubrooms, team mates ), any club can do that if their smart.
You make it sound like its all been handed to Jervois on a silver platter which it hasn't, Richards & Mahoney have had alot to do with it.

Funny how you are knocking the bluds for recruiting highly when you were a very high payed player .I think the bluds know where they want to be in five years time ,they have a lot good young players that are going to carry the bluds through the next tens years and further. it is a credit to the club to be in the position it is ,everyone has to travel to be involved with the club theres not much of a population base to draw from, not like other clubs .Name one club in the past 15years that have one premierships that havernt a high number of recruits or payed players to travel.I know for a fact that clubs in the RMFL and other leagues pay to retain there local players whats the difference

the rule was that all 'registered players' from 2007 were considered zero pointers. no matter how many games they had played.
so if you got a league or reserves player to sign for you before the end of june and become a registered player, they would be zero points under the new scheme.
probably the only loophole with the system and only exposed by jerv and mypo. clever thinking on their behalf...

As mentioned before Fraunfelter was signed last year and they didn't think they would actually get him playing many games this season. But once the big fella got a taste of playing for the Bluds he told Jack he no longer wanted to play for South and chose to play the rest of the year for Jervois.
But let's be honest, will be a good thing for Baylis to have help in the ruck...he is an old man!
