And playing the strong and weak teams in clusters also provides false hope for the weaker clubs. Whats going to happen in the next 8 weeks. There will be plenty of blow outs. Granted, its great to see improvement from the Twisties, Aldinga and Hawks but what happens when they will struggle to win again for the next 8 weeks. Then in the last 5 rounds the top teams all go head to head again which increases chance of injury and soreness causing some teams to limp into finals with half fit squads. The rounds had been switched around in the previous 2 or 3 years to avoid this whilst still keeping a seeded draw.

I agree this is unfair, a little unlucky. How many do Reynella have against top 6 teams, thats way too hard for me to look at the programme and work out!

In the early 2000's we had the same problem, we were an up and coming team and got the hardest draw of the lot. The ranking system they now use i believe can be attributed to Trevor Potts as one year we finished out of the finals and the next year, according to the ranking system, we copped the hardest draw of any other team. Now we enjoy the harder games and prefer to have more of them, will this draw prevent teams such as MV, Cove, Rey, HV, Brig, PN making the top 8..?? No it won't, once finals start anything can happen as Brighton showed last year. There is an argument for both, as in, run to finals, my personal belief is the tougher the run in the better, nothing worse than playing a couple average sides prior to finals. I see we have Cove in the last minor round game at Cove, couldn't ask for a better final minor round match up.

Didn't brighton finish 2nd, so they should play all the top teams twice

But Wheels, why not the same for the back-to-back-to-back-to-back premiers and Porties and HV only get 3 games twice against the top 6. And before anyone refers to 2 games against the 7 and 8 teams of last year, we all know that ever since we had a top 8, theres been a big gap every year between the top 6 and the next 3 or 4. In fact I reckon in every year the 6th team has finished 2 or 3 wins better (and with a harder draw) than 7 & 8.

Sorry, I left out Reynella. They are the same as MV and Cove with 8 games against the top 6. There is merit in having good games leading into finals but not necessarily 5 in a row after having a run of easy wins. Much rather a more even mix. Look at the Crows this week. They play West Coast again after having played them in Round 2. This is due to AFL structuring draw so that teams get even mix of rest days between games, travel factor etc, which forces them to mix up the symmetry of the draw. This was done for fairness.

No not Hot Dogs people, but he sends his regards.

I Agree down hill the top six should be playing each other twice every year. The roos finished 2nd to bottom last year and we don't play hackham twice, we play marion and osb who finished 7th and 8th, what the?

Well Reynella have won a couple on the trot and obviously starting to look cohesive with there recruits finding plenty of the ball after a couple of weeks geling together( butcher 40 plus stats ) in the best ,Moore in the best and Milo back to kicking plenty, Moore and Milo to have a few extra shots at goal after training just to straighten up a bit after 9g 7 and 3 g 7 respectively.

we cant have the boys at Reynella just cruising into the season enjoying there footy and ringing there coach all the time to have a chat and geling with him or ringing just to let him know they will be at the party can we.

Oh no we dont want things to appear smooth down at the wineflies.

EDIT - SAME reasons as SFL SPY post.

Careful Tunit, those Winies are a bit sensitive after 31 years without a flag. Must be the Collingwood guernsey. I wonder if the Spy has a gold jacket like Joffa. Should the Flies consider permanently changing back to that spunky purple heritage jersey for a change of fortune.

Thanks for paying for the TV Dutch boy, it put more $$ in our coffers to offer players.

Until you have something constructive to say TEAC off, or jump to the RFML forum.

I hope the wineflys are getting a better reception from their TV's than you gave me there hound!

If you care to look back a page you will see Mex's fair assessment of the Cove game. No need to analyse the defeat, just getting on with the season now. Will have to look back further than that for something constructive from the hound i'd imagine.
