They all have there good points but overall Two Wells get the nod from me. If I recall they were the first club in the comp to get coopers on tap (could be wrong, memories bit hazy these days), the beers always cold and they're one of the few clubs where you can get pints.

Very dissapointed at Two Wells on Saturday after talking their beer up I was looking forward to a nice cold pint on the weekend but they had no coopers on tap! Then to make things worse my second stubbie wasn't even that cold! I had such high expectations and was a shattered man.

The tigers still got a few to come back over the coming weeks should get alot stronger but the broad man has to keep flogging them on the track, still not fit . Lucky we had young round up pym running around like an iron man all day and that man lurch both played stella games. The buss seemed a bit under the weather on the weekend lucky for us .

Willy also very handy, Quinten Graham was disappointing though, did a bit but not what you would have expected, needs a preseason me thinks, still got Dalgleish, Cocky and tubby taylor to fit inot their side and a few others i'd reckon. Our Young Rooster brigade, just make too many errors at costly times, maturation required. Yes that was maturation not mas....er...you know!!

The roosters forward line was basically non-functional from what I saw - lots of ball in the area but more rebound from the Tigers - probably had 1 winner up there all day. Agree with you Rooster - lots of ball errors from your boys.

it was probably more a case of getting smashed in the middle, probably need a few bigger bodies in the middle, Schimmin and Broad are no light weights and when they camp over it, you don't move em easily, but a few of our lads didn't fire a shot!

Rest assured Rooster fans, we'll address that and have a crack at the league heavy weights this week.

Sure - I'll give it a go - in a nutshell

1. Rule is effective in U14 (8 goals) and U17 (10 goals)
2. If a team is up by the amount above at 1/2 time or 3/4 time the game is called off
3. side in front obviously wins by 48 or 60 points MAX
4. once game is called umpires and coaches are required to swap players to even up the contest, i.e. better players now play against their own team
5. no goal scorers or goals recorded after game is called
6. umpires supposed to still award votes based on performance after game called

Have a scan back through this thread for comments on the rule.

That rule is just DUMB, but predictable in this world we now live in. Toughen up princesses welcome to the real world. Teaches young players nothing about pushing through, turning games on there ears.

Yeah quinno is a little tenda at the moment, he displays really good awareness though. Some of our guys haven't been quite quick enough to receive the ball when he actually gets it. Yeah wil searle is playing good footy as well, it would be good to be able move like him. Longies are wary of the cocks.

If you are affiliated with a APFL club - voice your opinion to the committee and anyone else that will listen.

The APFL Junior committee has put forward a recommendation to flick the rule - BUT it is stil inplace because the APFL main committee think it is "working well" - clearly they should be listening to the clubs and junior committees whom it is affecting most.

There was one young U17 a few weeks back was so miffed that his 2nd half goals did not count to his season total that he had to be convinced to keep playing - kids love to see their name in the paper, they love to win, they need to be recognised for their efforts. This rule does not encourage the players to play well and is pampering to players who 95% of will NOT continue with football.

OK - sorry I can't help it - this rule really gets my blood boiling.

thanks jumbo. seems to me a senseless ruling. most players have been thru times when they get thumped regularly and times when they have winning streaks, it's all part of the game & learning to take the good with the bad. surely the club deligates to the league can do something if the majority of clubs are against the ruling. it doesn't look good for apfl [ has anyone asked the lads playing under this rule how they feel about it ? ] i reckon they would cop more stick forthe 'mercy' rule than they would if they got a belting, but what would an old fart know.

I guess its like any public forum - if there are enough people wishing to discuss any topic then it is probably still a valid topic.

And you are correct droppy - we all think its s**t - but it is still in use. Hence it will still be discussed probably ad nauseum.

I think you'll find norm that that is the consensus of everyone else too. Interesting though that an opinion like that has come from a Mallala coach considering that Mallala were one of only two clubs who supported this rule. Agree with Droppie that we have all probably spoken enough about this and that at least four clubs tried to do something about it through the right channels, but it looks like its here to stay. End of issue in my book so lets get on with it and learn to live with it.

Change of subject - Is it just me or does anyone else think that charging $4 for a stubbie at Football is just a greedy grab for money from certain clubs! Considering bar staff are normally voluntary it seems a bit rich to me!
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

and that's the common theme across the APFL.

Yep. $4 is a joke. Even $3.50 is pushing it in my book.
You think for $4 stubbies clubs could at least refrigerate it, hey PintOfAle.

And bring back post game bar snacks.

if you keep quiet about it the peolple at the top think they have got everyone's approval & pat themselves on the back & say ' well done'. instead i think other leagues are having a bit of a giggle at them.

All well and good, but you have to tell the people at the top. No point whingeing about it on here. It's up to the Clubs to get stuck into the League and there's no chance they'll change the rule half way through the year. Maybe next year, but until then....beer is expensive.
