Some very optimistic tipping there damian

Have a go bp, pretty hard week. Marion will be to good with Bilney and Stokes to fire, Aldinga at home will run over the top of Lonsdale (hot one week, very cold the next), valleys in a tight one and someone has to pick cove and i think the run of the emus will come to an end.

I think these tips are all correct, can anyone confirm?

Yep all correct. Did you have some inside info this week that the rest of us didn't know about? Some really good games in trying conditions over the weekend. Good to see someone FINALLY knock Morphies off too but I think its the loss they needed and will only motivate them more to win yet another flag.

I think your spot on there BP, they will be harder to beat again after having a loss on the weekend. But it does give sides some confidence.

CMH, the Flaggies score was 20 goals to 10 or there abouts.

Bit of an upset considering no one in the 'boot' really picked us. We always thought we would get the bickies but it was great to see an improved Morphy parks side.

How did you see the game, Morphies Magic?

Cove were excellent on the weekend and deserved their first ever "Merv Mules Cup".. Weiderman killed us i thought, reckon he took close on 20 marks patrolling at CHB, and Heater mopped up all day out of a back pocket setting up play after play. An even 4 quarter effort from the Cobra's, Emu's came back well in the 2nd half and made it a great contest to watch, good skill and hard footy. Look forward to the return bout in the final minor round game...

If there was an SFL Fantasy Footy comp you would be laughing if you had that heater bloke as your captain. Must have had at least 40 kicks.

Yeah was a game that probably should have been alot closer. Full credit goes to Flaggies they wanted it more then what we did. Once again our goal kicking let us down.

Whats your thoughts on the better players for the day both sides?

Your midfield was alot smarter then ours there was one bloke that seem to get it out of the middle and run run run run

according to the Boot, next week is
Hackham v. Reynella
Morphie Park v. Port
Marion v. Flaggies
Lions v. Noarlunga
Morphett Vale v. Aldinga
Cove v. Valley
Christies v. Brighton
don't like Aldinga's chances of making it two in a row

I thought that our midfield was on top for most of the day apart from the 3rd quarter when you guys started to come back at us. All the boys who ran through the middle on saturday seemed to play their role and set up the win. What was the number of the Flaggies bloke you speak of?

For you guys, there was a bloke in the guts wearing long sleeves. I thought that he was probably your best.

I'll back,

Reynella by 40 goal
Porties by 15 goal
Marion in a close one
Lions to bounce back
Aldi.....maybe M/Vale just - 30 goal
Cove by 5 goal
Brighton by 10 goal

I'm sure no-one from Brighton would be making any excuses for their start to the season, but does anyone else find it really odd that they have had to play the top 5 teams (excluding them) from last year. And the rest of the top 5 have all played teams who are outside of this bracket? No offence to the other teams in the comp, i am glad to see it has become more even below but i think most people in this forum would agree that the top 6 (including Brighton) are still are fair way ahead of the rest. Considering the first five rounds are the teams that you play again in the final five rounds, surely this seems a little unfair. I don't know, just thought a topic for discussion.

I thought the sfl fixture was worked out on a ranking system were top teams played each other twice and vica versa for the bottom teams,i could be wrong but i thought this was brought in a cupla seasons ago and i was pretty sure it was to do with the strength of the juniors as well as the seniors.

Dingo I think you will find that Cove have now played Reynella, Brighton, Morphett Vale, Port Noarlunga and have Happy Valley this week....So it's not only Brighton that have played the top 6 teams excluding themselves as so have Cove. Cove find themselves 5 - 0

Think you'll find all the top sides will play each other twice this year Brighton not the only one Dingo Cove the same. Reynella already played Brighton, Cove MV and Valley. Add to that Port with a tough start. MV have probally had the easier run early from all the top sides. But theres no point complaining these are the sides you need to beat. Well done to the league they have done a good job of evening the league out as best the can with the fixture.

The fixture this year has been better than any other year and with the further development of Sharks, Parks and Hawks shouldn't have to experience too many 50 goal drubbings.

Realy like the way they've allowed the Hawks and Aldinga to "settle in" this year, giving them "manageable" games before they get hit with the top powers. The Sharks have had Hackham, Morphie Park, Christies, Marion and the Lions, winning two of those before finally fronting up to Morphett Vale in Round Six. The Hawks had Aldinga, Noarlunga, Lions and Flagstaff before their first "impossible mission" v. Port last week. That sort of programming gives these sides every chance to gather confidence they can compete with a number of rival units. Much better than last year when the Sharks got hit with Morphett Vale in Round Two.

Time for some Down the Hill perspective on this forum now that Hot Dogs has gone quiet. SFL have completely butchered draw. Brighton play 10 games against top 6 teams from last year. Morphett Vale and Cove 8 and Porties and HV 6. SFL were too focussed on assisting clubs organise their "traditional rival" games and took their eye off fairness. And playing the strong and weak teams in clusters also provides false hope for the weaker clubs. Whats going to happen in the next 8 weeks. There will be plenty of blow outs. Granted, its great to see improvement from the Twisties, Aldinga and Hawks but what happens when they will struggle to win again for the next 8 weeks. Then in the last 5 rounds the top teams all go head to head again which increases chance of injury and soreness causing some teams to limp into finals with half fit squads. The rounds had been switched around in the previous 2 or 3 years to avoid this whilst still keeping a seeded draw.

You could look at it the other way Down Hill, instead of having easy games coming into finals and playing sh*t footy, you can have good hard hit outs to get ready for finals. I don't think there is anything worse than playing sh*t footy and winning by 20 goals then playing a team like cove or M/Vale the week after. The footy is completely different and finals is harder again.
