Glad you asked!

Apparently the APFL met on Monday night before the junior committee meeting of last night and agreed to keep the mercy rule as it is because they felt it was working well - this is without waiting for review and recommendation from the Junior committee. This is despite a recommendation that was passed last night to the contrary by the Junior committee.

GET YOUR HEADS OUT OF THE SAND APFL COMMITTEE. Buschy you need to fix this problem immediately.

Apparently Virginia, United, Two Wells and Balaklava want the mercy rule removed completely from U17 and raise the U14s to 10 goal margin before enactment. Mallala and HWE want some form of mercy rule in both grades (fair dinkum are there primary school teachers running these 2 junior committees). Hamley are undecided. I know for a fact that Hamley U17 and Mallala U17 coaches are not in favour of the rule.

Junior committee also want amendments if the mercy crap is to stand - move the margin to 15 goals in U17 and 10 in U14s.

How can the APFL say it is working well? Have they not seen the same games the rest of the community has seen? Is there too many do-gooders in power? What the ?%$k is going on??

Not quite right Jumbo. I think you'll find that its a high school teacher running this

Agree totally with your thoughts on this one.

Sack Busch and seccafien. there are only there for their own ego's. what they say goes. If these people reverse this rule it would make them look silly! So this rule will stay despite what the majority say! I have witnessed how the APFL works and if you dont agree with or lick butt your name will be slandered, lies and false alligations brought against inderviduals. The is fact a curtian offical who was aware that a report put in by a curtain club was totally false! but he chose to say nothing and the person received a large penelty, All APFL officials have a duty of care and should be made aware of this. Bringing the game into DISREPUTE falls in the catogory of duty of care. the mercy rule should be chalenged and if the majority say get rid of it then they MUST! GET RID OF IT.

You guys are on the money, there has been a lot of debate on radio recently about whether or not the cost of junior sports is adequate or not, and it got me thinking about our problem with this rule.

you have got a rule that takes out 90% of the competitive element in junior football, the next thing you will have is players not trying and players at a junior level not striving to be the best they can because, with this rule, no more players going on to league clubs, why would they!

Realistically the ongoing effect of this "pathetic" rule is a substandard senior league in the future years, players will drift into senior football without ever really applying themselves or knowing how good they can be. :(

Don't shackle the good players, don't bring the good sides back because the rest aren't good enough, we need to bring the lower teams up if possible, if not let's just get on with it and play the game the way it was mean't to be played.

AND-Let me guess i bet they still want to run an U17 Association side, to now reward the best players in the league, what kind of hypocrisy is that! :?

Yep we have no pemit players that would have any influance on the game. Do the peckers have any permit players considering they are on top of the ladder?

MERCY RULE! To make anyone let alone minors(18 or under) do anything against his/her wishes is abuse!(U18)CHILD ABUSE. I suggest the coaches obey the wishes of minors and if they say NO it means NO. DO NOT force them to play ANYTHING that they don't want to. This current committee and its policies will make sure that there will be NO(APFL) players in the future that play at league level.

why!!! er...sure i have had one, er how did you know!!

No Really, just looked at the blokes who have been getting a kick, would have thought A.Leo should get an invite for being the league leading goal kicker thus far, yes i know Brett Burgess is up there also, but you can't rely on kicking all your goals from free kicks, sorry, i reckon he's hopeless.

And Mallala had a few blokes i've never heard of as well, but more power to em, should be a fairly strong side, AGAIN!! the only problem was that in the producer it never said where the training was to be held, is it Balak as the Carnival will be?

Correct! kind of, not sure about the child abuse, but your spot on about not playing league footy, A lot of talk at Two wells about this "mercy Rule" and our U17 coach said his lads were kicking backwards to each other in the latter stages of the 2nd quarter to avoid the ten goal deficit that would mean the scores are frozen at half time, i know it takes the wee wee out of the other side, but what good does it do for anyone???

1) You've got talented players mucking around, not taking it serious because they still want to be able to play a second half and have the scores count.
2) if you think young players don't want to play because they are getting beaten, how will they go when the complete pith is taken out of them by one team trying to avoid kicking goals.
3) Our U17 coach is committed to developing A-Grade footballers and that task is made so much harder when they can only play one half of footy before the scores are nulled.

Evidently the APFL Comittee met on monday night and decided that they are satisfied with this rule, the APFL Junior Commitee met last night only to be told that the decision had been made without their or the clubs input and that is an absolute disgrace. Hummocks and Mallala are the only clubs that agree that the mercy rule should stay, but in a much more fairer version. all other clubs want rid of this, how can the league be so blind, arrogant and stubborn about something that in the end is supposed to be fun for some kids and get them off the streets and away from the playstations and x-boxs.

Could be an interesting match in the Magoos between Balak and Mallala. Apparently the Mallala guy who looks after the B Grade guernseys' car caught on fire on the way home from Virginia last week. All the guernseys went up in smoke like the car.

Might be an old fashioned match of Balak versus skins.
