Went and saw lofty beat blackwood last night. Was a big crowd and a very good standard of footy. Came away from it thinking that Lofty will go close again this year when the whips are cracking. Interestingly Blackwood easily won the B grade and looked pretty solid across the ground and would have to be the measuring stick in the B's.

On another topic, was talking about the points system to a few people in the know last night and I was told by a reliable source that Lofty used up 28 pts out of the 35 pts allowed for each team. Apparently Uraidla and Blackwood have both been on or very close to the maximum 35 points in the last few games. Anyone else know how many points some of the other teams have been using up in their A grade?

35 pts is way too high. Some clubs will come close to the maximum but certainly won't go over it. It won't have much effect until they drop it down to about 30.

Barkeroos are using 22pts, this was yesterdays total against Ironbank.

So Mt Barker had only 1 2pt player and the rest were 1pt players?

Birdwood used 24 points and at last won their first A grade game in div 1 :D We were up by about 5-6 goal at 3 qtr time and Lobey came out and got the first 2 or 3 goals and Birdwood started to look a bit shakey!! It think it was just the fact they weren't sure how to win!! We then got a couple of goals and steadied the ship to win the first Pfeiffer/Sziller Cup.

Birdwood B's won by about 10-11 goals.

Uraidla are struggling with injuries at present. Gun midfielders Anderson & McLean went down with bad injuries early. Anderson looks like he'll be out for the season with a knee and McLean will be out for about a month with a bad hamstring tear. No Loffler Saturday either who is still recovering following surgery last week to repair a badly broken nose from the previous round plus a couple more are still missing or carrying niggles. Having said that Onka's deserved their win Saturday and you can take nothing away from them.

Uraidla missed loffer alot on the week end, in the first half they killed onkas in the center clearances but the ball got to half forward and the onkas boys just rebounded it to easy and ran the ball down the ground to that big Shee bloke who played a ripper game. Loffler should be back this week though so watch out ironbank!!

I reckon alot of the richer clubs need to get off the back of the bridgy boys! If i was to rate the worst away changerooms alot of the richer clubs spending far more than bridgy on players would be right up there!!!

Mt lofty- is a cupboard with taps which dribble water for showers!!! whilst next door you can do lane work in theres and have a nice hot shower after the game!

Onkas- they are a disgrace!!! again no room to even jog on the spot in there!!! toilets just in the open( seen a few footy's end up in the urinal) and a blackboard dividing the "showers" from the rest of the room!!! again you can do lane work in theres, have a great shower and have seperate strapping quarters!

Mt Barker- again its a bloody cupboard!!

Blackwood the cage gets bigger every year but they do have hot showers!

Ironbank is a shed! having said that plenty of room!!!

Well its official, Lobethal wont win a game all year. Sad to see this happening to a club that was a force a decade ago.

Frazer Scanlon from the South East and that was all. Leith Marston will be back in a few weeks and will add 1 more point but thats all. Every one else has been with the club for a while now.

Dont have a problem with having a crack about visitors rooms, they are terrible at some clubs, but if you think Mt Barker and Onkas have spent more money on players than Bridgy in the past couple of years you are dreaming!
oh yeh, and bridgy's shed across the river is just a ripper too!! Share the showers and toilets. Any one can walk into other clubs prematch! they are the worse rooms in comp sorry!
Least you get privacy in other clubs rooms.

Was reading an article about a week ago ( maybe in VIC paper ) about blokes in the AFL who sledge the most - not blokes who fight , but use their mouths to unsettle the opposition.
Got me thinking who are the biggest sledgers in the Hills ?
A couple of suggestions although some aren't playing anymore ( showing age )

1. Paul Scamoni ( bridgewater ) Not loud but always seemed to whisper something that took your mind off the game.

2. Back when Loby were strong they all didn't mind having a chat and offering some advice on how we could improve - in particular Kieran Ryan.

3. Hahndorf quite a few , Tim Knappstein ( whats with little blokes always wanting to have discussions )

4. Luke Gunn and Tim Way at Blackwood

5. Aaron Carter - Uraidla

Not complaining , most of the time things were humerous and added a little spice to a saturday afternoon.

Probably biggest sledger is that big red headed bloke who watches Blackwood.

interesting topic could almost be a thread on its own. from our club i would have to say rob 'boodley' O'Gorman is the biggest sledger i would hate to play against him but he is good value to have on ur team always stands up for the little guy
