I really cant understand why the night game has gone to a saturday when all other night games have been on friday nights. Playing tonight would have given the PLFL the only chance it will ever have of not going up against an AFL game...so what do they do...put the game up against the VIC v's Dream Team game.

Is there any good reason why the game is tomorrow?

Agree Bish it is not the smartest idea. Head to head with the Dream team game is not ideal but also they will not attract a crowd (including HS and his crew + others) they could have as other clubs will be doing presentations and trying to raise much needed funds from bar and meals and would not be to happy if everybody packed up and left their club to watch T V MR starting at 6.30pm

thats it. It should be a showpiece game each time so as to attract more people through the gates than usual. Last friday was a perfect example of the amount of people that will go with AFL on or not.

We have our players auction tomorrow night and souths have theirs so there are 2 clubs that require their players to be at the club. stupid idea to change the night.

Smiley Chalmers is helping out with coaching a bit now too. But yeah, we are a bit short this week, but everyone who steps in will be asked to give 100% and that is all we can ask of them. As for Leo being female i'm not sure, i'm starting to think it could be more than one person???

Have browsed this site occasionally and finally decided to make a post. Few things I'd like to address...

U/19's - Definitely getting too good a wrap. For many clubs the U/19 is a backwater. The gap year for players too old for 17's and not good enough for Reserves. As far as I can see Port are in a situation that they have a wealth of talent out here in the country that they struggle to gain access to until school's finished. This is one of the reasons Port always have a good U/19 side, the talent is there, but it isnt anywhere else (there are a 1 or 2 other clubs in a similar situation). I hope these guys get a call up this year, because really, if you play a whole year of only 19's, you may as well come back.

Tasman No. 5 - Bit of white line fever for this guy. Crowds are always looking for someone or something to abuse, whether its a player or an umpire or the runner. I love it when someone gives it back, as long as he backs it up on the field, I hope he keeps it up.

Mortlock coach - I appreciate the fact that he's a mail medallist and a harmless bloke outside the game, but the guy has the brains of a muel. I'd happily watch him coach an U/7's team, but not the Lincoln representative side.

All opinions expressed in this post are my own only and I speak from personal experience on all of the issues addressed. Please tell me what you think.

Was never dropped, pulled out this week due to injury and to have 2 weeks off to be right for the rest of season. If he cracked the shits he would be player coach in the magoos today.

I agree with Eski's comments, I hope all Port Lincoln players make themselves available for next weeks game. It should be a honour to represent your league especially against such a quality side like Great Flinders. I can't see why players would make themselves unavaliable for a game like this (unless of course legitimate injuries). In the past I don't think it has meant much to the players to represent half of your league eg Lincoln District or Lincoln City. The Port Lincoln Football League needs to regain some respect and credibility after last years Mortlock performance, no more excuses with only ONE team.

I vaguely remember watching a Port Lincoln vs Great Flinders game at Cummins I think in the late 80's or early 90's and I think Lincoln thrashed them by over 100 points, things have certainly changed since then (except for Primey dominating but even he has changed leagues).

As for Leo, I know he dribbles a lot of s##t but the only thing I do agree on is that I reckon Port Under 19's would beat PLFL and GFFL sides. They would be far far fitter and quicker. Apart from the under 19 country lads that we know about (some of which are struggling to get a game over there), they would also have some city based absolute guns that we don't know about that would be future AFL and SANFL footballers. Body size would not be an issue for the under 19's at all. But we will never know.

In 2001 didn't a Reserves Port Adelaide side (which was made up of 3/4 under 19 players) play against the EP side at Wuddina with Port winning by 10 goals?

Leo your comments on Grove are, as you know incorrect. You are obviously still bitter that he left your club to play for Waybacks.

All the best to Dorza with his recovery from an incident that happened in town last weekend. Not a nice thing to have happen at all and I hope he makes a full recovery and can get back into the Port side.

PLFL side looks to young on paper for my liking.

Does PL footy really need the Tigers, after last years efforts I'd say no. It's a bye anyway, might as well just call the day off and go fishing!![/quote]
