Big call steigs...

Maybe but as they will never get to play agin each other, I guess we will never know so therfore, assuming ur comment means you disagree, I have no hesitation in saying I'm right and ur wrong.

Does PL footy really need the Tigers, after last years efforts I'd say no. It's a bye anyway, might as well just call the day off and go fishing!![/quote]

Encourage all you like. Lincoln footy will always be the same. The hatred between the local clubs means the lads dont bond and never will. PLFL rep footy died in the 70's.
I would say the Port u19s would easily account for Port Lincoln who are piss weak and would be a close match with GF.

Was there any talk about playing thr GF vs PL match under lights at Ravendale? Surely this would attract a much larger crowd, plus it might also give a few blokes a bit more of an incentive to put their hands up for selection.

Reckon that would have been a great idea Eags.
Bluey could have promoted it bigtime..

I can see the heading now " Port Lincoln v Dream Team" lol.....

Seriously though, a night game would have been excellent viewing. The GF boys will be ready to go, just hope Lincoln can get enough lads keen to play and make it a good game.. Funny how priorities change with generations. 15-20 years ago most blokes would have given a left nut to play for Lincoln and very few blokes back then put their hand out for cash before deciding where to play..
Nowadays its "whats in it for me" before deciding whether they want to play... Sad really..

Port Lincoln's attitude to rep footy is well documented, but given the young nature of our league that may clter a bit. I hope so.
For it to really work, the PLFL need to get 100% behind the concept, and really pump the rep team up. Instead od waving a big stick and threatening hollow punishment if they are unavailable, give the guys incentive to play. Make them look the part at the games, with jackets and shirts....make the experience as special as we try to talk it up to be on here. I think I posted last year how un professional we looked against the GF, MW and EE teams..FFS even Whyalla showed us up in that area.
Make it a big deal, publish the teams in THIS weeks paper and get some enthusiasm going. It's easy to point the finger at the players, but the PLFL and clubs need to take ownership.

getting your gun sides to play assoc footy is tough for many leagues. I follow the river murray league and we have the exact same problem up here, not enough guys stick their hand up for it these days.
we also have an even bigger problem in that we play a team of under 25's, permitting 5 players over that age to play. given that a lot of young fellas dont really care and a lot of the 'better' players are over 25, it seems pretty rediculous. as a result we have been given a hiding by the great southern FL for the last 10 years.

it is a pity and GF are lucky to have the committment from the players and are surely one of few leagues going around that do.

its a hard one to solve but you guys are coming up with some good ideas. you just have to hope that all the old boys sitting around the desk agree with you and try to implement them

Eski wrote:T07 stop putting ideas into peoples head that tiger players aren't going to support grudge match between GFFL. Our top 5 players will all want to play no doubt as probably would get them a win for the year. There's only one player in our top 5 that want play due to injury and he want play this week. Our top five this year would be a lot younger than last years so why wouldn't they front.

Lincoln players i encourage you all to play as there is nothing better than representing your league and putting on a show for local supports at a higher level. Playing lincoln footy and dominating is a great satisfaction for some no doubt, but boys test yourselves at a higher level and succeed and the satisfaction is huge.

And my god its GFFL for F**k sake why wouldn't you want to take them to cleaners and shut them up for a while.

stop it eski, your givin me buterflys

When Horgs coached the LC side to victory in 2005 he made a concerted effort to make the experience seem special. Sponsors were arranged and T Shirts and Jackets were handed out and hey presto....as simple as that ol.
There is an old saying, if you want to be the part, then look the part. Last year we looked like a dogs breakfast and played accordingly.
What about a team for PL...
Heres mine:

FF: Dunn, Mooney, Hunt
HF:Semmler,Honner,M Miller
C: Vonow,Marsh, D Wanganeen
HB:McKinley,Hyphen, Smith
FB: Hippy,Cimma,Parker
Ist Ruck: Watherston, Goodwin, MJ

Int from:Kelsh, Sarge, Tabe, Harvey, Betts, Wagner,Abel, K Miller,

Would go OK

That half forward line would keep the Great Flinders boys busy...
Good side Bluesy... I would have a few different ones but we all have differing opinions.
From a Tasman point of view, Craig Reincke b4 Cima...

Valid point for a troll. Would probably slot Campbell to HB and move Smith to BP. Maybe Marsh to BP and have HP in the middle. I am not entirely sure on the FB position....

pacer...I would pay $6 just to see that HF / HB tussle. Maybe instead of Tshirts we would give these guys PLFL authorised ear plugs.
