Spoke to a recruit that went to Bridgy last yr, he openly said he just went for the money! Couldnt give a rats about the club, but took the money cause as he said it was a bit silly being offered that much. Fair to say he doesnt play there anymore!! Took the money and ran! Waste of time and Money Bridgy, but seems you do it yr after yr and go NO WHERE!!

Just read in the Advertiser that they are sending Tyson Edwards to watch the Hahndorf v Bridgewater game. Are they kidding? On paper that would be the worst game being played in the Hills this weekend. Even the Callington v Macclesfield game in Country Division would be better than that! Who the hell makes these decisions?

I think your all being a bit harsh on the Bridgewater FC, like all clubs the committee and other people who work for the club are volunteers trying to do their best for the club to survive in what is a pretty hot market. I'm not sure as an outsider looking in you can judge a club on how it is being run. Yes they have had limited recent success, but your talking bout a club who does have a history and a club trying to get its club back as a competitive unit. They do not have the resources and facilities like some of the more decorated clubs of the league but from what i can see are doing the right things in promoting juniors in to the senior ranks. I can see some synical people suggesting that this is not gonna provide the club with a quick solution but you got to remember that you build your club around your youth and these kids that are playing A Grade footy at the moment are only going to be better off in the long run. Yes they havent got highly recognised recruits but the football circle turns and when it does I'm sure this football club will become successful again

Newman, Exactly why some of us are suggesting to re-build with your juniors in Country Div. If Bridgey are worried that they won't be able to recruit names beacuase they're in Country then that's crap. Players will play where the money is regardless of the competition. Remember it's not that hard to go back to Central Div once they've re-built. 2 or 3 yrs in Country would do the club well.

Panther, Strong suggestion as in the previous post. Re-build in Country Div. Bridgey would start winning again, teaching the juniors how to win & what it feels like. Supporters would then start coming to more games, becuase their teams now have more of a chance. This would increase Gate takings, & Bar. More supporters & players would come back to the club and hang around for a meal & drinks afterwards. I can remember 8 yrs ago Bridgey Club used to go off till Burger would kick you out. I hear now the place usally shuts before 12. Just give it a crack, it can't be any worse than it is now.

To me that just seems like taking the easy option. Wouldnt you want your juniors to go up against the best competition available and try and fast track their development. I dont see the point of going back playing in an easier comp just to try and develope a winning culture, at least these young fellas are playing in the best comp available learning and developing each week.

Bridgy need to stay in the city div until a relegation system comes into play atleast what they need to concnetrate on now is a new board that will funnel the copious amounts of wasted player payments into other areas of the club such as senior colts; facilities etc. They've wasted so much money in recent years and gotten know where. Change your approach Bridgy, save the penny's and get the same result for a couple more seasons while you conecnetrate on your juniors, structure and facilities.

Maybe, I dunno - what ever you guys reckon?

Maccy & meadows combine
lobe & gum or birdwood combine or all 3

cally go somewhere else say river murray or with NB ( WILL HILLGROVE MoNEY BE AROUND WHEN MINE STARTS)

Tvalley after hughes ?? who knows

leaves one division with all strong sides..other clubs just play c grade..food for thought.. peter milde, david french and others have said this would happen for a long time..

tanka, you didnt mention which club has won the most premierships in the last 10 yrs, who would that be??

in regards to bridgys colts being too good for div2, think thats a big call isnt it?? also winning as a youngster doesnt always mean theyll stick around, the main focus should be on making the club a good place to watch footy and have a meal afterwards. start making some dollars to improve the place. how many more times does vic jones have to be on the front cover of the courier in a snorkel for you to move your changerooms for starters.

when we were being belted week in week out, our club was pretty empty on a sat night aswell, until we got id say the hardest working president in the hills workin tirelesly on improving the aesthetics of our ground, getting more sponsors and recruiting the right type of players we needed to get us winning again. we were lucky with the players we got not every team will go from bottom to premiers in two yrs, but it is very possible to take a big jump up the ladder.

No its not easy but, is it fair to say they would have wasted 40-50 grand (maybe more) on players in past 4-5 years, i say wasted because it got them NO WHERE up the ladder. Just arent going about recruiting the right way i spose.. (hence my last post) But big money has been paid for no return. If that money was spent on - Facilities, junior development, new oval, or just leave the money in the club for a big spend on something valuable for the club. But what they have been doing is NOT working, big money, big names, stay 5 mins take money with no results... And loosing locals cause not happy!! I think this may be a good way to start.
As much as people bag Birdwood, least there doing it the right way!! They have really taken steps off field to get things right on field. They are taking small steps to try and get there!! Its not costing them heaps of money!
