Your kidding right? The Lions were the only team to be infront of Morphies at half time last year. They always seem to put up a decent fight against them. The lions have had quite a few injuries to 1st choice players so far this season but with a couple of them coming back and the two South boys playing, i doubt it'll be the massive blow out that you're predicting. You Morphies boys really need to get off your high horse!

Who cares if Lonsdale were up at half time, they still lost right? And i'm pretty sure the Valley got within 2 points, but you don't hear them bragging. Morphett Vale by plenty i think!

It pains me to say this DWW but I agree, I would actually go so far to say that Morphett Vales B grade would beat Lonsdales A grade. With the likes of Sampson, Pittman, Joraslaski and Byrne running around.

Who's bragging? I was just stating what happened last year. Yes they still lost and will probably lose again on Saturday. All i'm just saying that Lonsdale seem to enjoy playing against Morphett Vale and that I doubt it'll be a blowout of 40 goals like some have suggested.

ZC - As for our oval I agree, it is a disgrace. Unfortunately we have done all we can as the school owns the land and have control over it. Until the school closes down (which doesn't seem too far off) we can only patch up the holes with sand. With the rain we have had over the last few weeks, it has softened up a bit (although I still managed to break my arm on it last week )

Your right in the past Lonsdale have been a bit of a bogey side for the Emus and I agree 40 goals is a bit much to expect but don't lump all Morphies blokes in with 1 person when a comment is made. I have seen a lot of beltings in my time and I know that Morphies will never demean the opposition, if the opposition start dishing out a bit of lip they will give it back but thats about it.

As for the oval once the school closes down what are the options? Stay or find a new ground maybe? Either way I think some changerooms somewhere in the same suburb could be a start.

It all depends on what happens with the land. If the education department sell it off to developers then we'll have to find somewhere else or negotiate to buy or lease the land. The good news is its not just Lonsdale FC that will be affected. Southern Districts play cricket there and a soccer club uses the oval as well. It'd be good if the council got on side, kept the schools gym and change rooms and turned the area into a sports facility for AFL, soccer, cricket, basketball etc. But the council seems more worried about making money than spending it to improve the community - you just have to look at what they've done with the help of the soccer club at the O'Sullivan Beach facility to see that!

Yes but the council may have the opportunity to buy the land to create recreational facilities if DECS/State Government sell it off. If/when the school closes down, my money is on real estate developers getting their hands on the land.

However Lonsdale's lease is ironclad and will survive either way, and there's still 9 years left to run on the lease.

How does 1 person making a statement constitute us all having that idea?? Personally I hope they do win by 40 goals to shove it up blokes like you, but has anyone ever kicked 40 goals on that terrible patch of grass they call a home ground?[/quote]

Don't know how much control Lonsdale would have over the oval but you'd hope that as with a lot of other council/government owned ovals the council would do more to maintain it.

Don't know how much control Lonsdale would have over the oval but you'd hope that as with a lot of other council/government owned ovals the council would do more to maintain it.

Wasn't teeing off on anyone just stating how I'm sick of Morphies supporters being lumped in a group together I don't know who cyclops is and he speaks for himself, the fact that it was stated that all Morphies boys thought this way is what I took offence too. You know a lot of Morphies boys would you say they have all been arrogant with their success?

Just a question for the morphies fella's on here, how many teams would Morphett Vale club have all up including all their 1st and 2nd sides, sub juniors plus c's etc?
And i know it's a generous total so my next questions is how can other clubs close to M/Vale survive and/or compete? And lastly, how well is a league run when a club is Allowed to have so many teams while other's nearby struggle?
