Willaston's young backline was exposed by Kennedy and Britton.
The midfield battle was interesting as both sides have the two best in league i think. Tanunda won out in this area tho. Willaston lost Chris McLean early which didn't help them

Thats an interesting comment slipper seeing as South Gawler have David Coombs in the pivot...

Gee.. that guy is getting a wrap on this forum
On paper Willaston's is great: Baker, Chris & Michael McLean, Dave Kellett, Sam Walton and a host of up and comers.
Tanunda have the likes of Tom Schiller, Newberry, Boh Wall to change through, Underwood and Greenwood once he is fit
Both sides have plenty of depth in this area. I don't think South's side runs so deep.

Sam Walton hasn't played a good game since the underage at centrals. I disagree with the depth issue at the Lions. Souths midfield looks like this: Aa. Bevis, A. Bayliss and L. Makris to change with D.Coombs, A.Johnston and A.Carapetis. It proved too good for the Donnybrooks in the trial game even with Johnston & Aa. Bevis missing. If the young donnybrook defenders couldn't deal with kennedy i am scared that they will come no where near the lightning quick Anton Geradis.

South Gawler
On ballers - to slow, not fit, not accountable - man up on them, and they don't become a problem, Bayliss the exception
Willaston
On ballers - tag S Baker - 2 McCleans ok if not being checked, Kellett, lazy and not accountable, great kick but you have to run and get ball to kick it
Tanunda and Barossa are streets ahead of any other on ball brigade in the leauge
Barossa have to bench mark after 2 premierships
Matt and Paul Steltzer,Spencer and the 2 Ambers as centre or rovers
Throw in, Spicer,Christie and Chamberlin for Rucks
Throw in Commane,Sharp, Harris,Thomas,James who also can rotate threw there, big loss Sibbick threw there
In saying that about Barossa, Tanunda also very good with Greenwood and Newberry as the main ones there

Have heard that Shane "Spider" Hagerstrom is playing out at Gawler Central this year...played in the B's on saturday....

I have seen this lad play and while is comittment (training) is not always perfect he will make a big impact in the comp when he plays A's. Can ruck against bigger blokes, takes marks around the ground and can go forward and generally kick a couple. Has played alot of Div 1 and 2 footy with Gepps A grade and they rate him very highly also.....Great pickup for a bloke who just turned up a training....
Harsh but fair.....

So you consider Aaron Bevis to be slow, unfit and unaccountable 151? Have you ever watched this man play... what a stupid post!

151, You obviously have no idea about the game. The barossa "has been" midfield was terrified by the ball winning ability of the Lions no more than a fortnight ago and the Willaston on ball brigade ran out of steam against them in a trial and saw the lions on ball brigade use their obvious fitness to smash them in the dying stages. Maybe if the entire donnybrook team wasn't up all night with party prescriptions at Flashdance during the week they may have stood a chance. I agree that tanunda are the bench mark but to say South are unfit and unaccountable is simply rediculous. I think your ideas about the game indicate the club you represent are past it and just cant come to terms with it.

well back pocket_19
coombs mccintyre or what ever his name is, see how he is going in another 6 games fitness wise and pace wise, thats if he is still there, as he has a habit of going missing, surprises me when he did 2 years ago and the coach and club said he will never play for the club again, same guy lied about being a local when living out the area, that was hushed over, by the league
and number 11 the same thing as previous years, not fit, to fat
bevis has history of getting inj
yes south has won a couple, but as history will show they will fall by the way as the season goes on
you are obviously a south supporter, dont be clouded by some small success, the last 4-5 years the same thing will happen and that is you will disinegrate with discipline and fitness when the pressure is applied when it counts, and that stems from a undisciplined coach also
and i will remind you off it later in the season
the barossa has been midfield ?????????? wait till it counts my friend

Well, your spirited reply 151 has brought a tear to my eye, yes i follow south and realise D.Coombs has a less than honorable past with the club or any club for that matter. If we wanna talk about what counts we can talk about the Inside 50 count from the South/Barossa encounter.... Even 44 a piece yet South still emerge 6 goals ahead that must stem from the undisciplined footy you speak of?! I dont understand how D.Coombs' fitness will deteriorate as the year goes on and i guess we will have to wait and see if Barossa have a shovel big enough to dig themselves out of the crater they call a hole.

Can anyone provide any substance to the rumour that the big man Prokopec is contemplating a return to the blue and white hoops before the June cut off deadline??

You blokes can argue all you like... Tanunda has the strongest midfield by far, then daylight, then probably Barossa, Willaston and South who can all be strong on their day...

Well enough bickering, lets concentrate on the footy and the most 'even' start to the league in some years... This weeks games...

Gawler Central V South Gawler (Hamra Homes Oval)
Kapaunda V Angaston
Willaston V Freeling
Nuriootpa V Barossa District

I'm thinking South in a good game, Kapunda, Willaston but not by much and Barossa to belt the tigers... cant wait to see what Slipper comes up with!!

South's chances hinge on the return of Andrew Bevis - Scott Hahn has a history of towelling up the lions when Bevo doesn't play on him....

Kapunda by plenty

Willaston - just

Barossa to get their season on track with a big percentage boost
