what i am saying is, is he there for the right or wrong reasons

Last time i buy him a beer anyway, Willy's shout!!!!

i'll be sure and push my empty glass his way, mind you there are some players getting a few more $$ who don't even stay for a refresher. (Don't bother having a crack, it was off the cuff and i won't name them anyways!!)

Yep, pretty close to it, took a few trials to get the formula right, but Fitzy believes he's on to it now.

Be worth the drive across to TW to have a look - should be a cracker of a game.

maybe searle isnt interested in playing football
wanted to play at kilburn, but was shown a contract he SUPPOSEDLY signed last year that committed him for this year
he definately wanted to leave and have a year off from there, and after talking to him this week, he isnt really motivated at the moment

Willy is a pretty handy midfielder with pace to burn and his second and third efforts are equal with others at United like Schulz and Sobey. United's weakness is its lack of pace in the guts and Willy more than compensates for this. Great move I reckon.

FootyFollower - If he isn't motivated then why does he keep showing up to training and often even does extra when others are finished. That shows plenty of motivation to me.[/quote]

As I have spoken to Searle on a number of occassions, I know that he isn't too interested this year! He's had more than plenty of offers from other clubs other than Kilburn that were happy to cater for his needs, which he also knocked back. I also know that he was keen on playing at Kilburn with Calyun that was turned down from the Tigers, which also motivated him not to be interested.

From my understanding Searle hasn't trained for at least two weeks, which had the Tiger coach concerned. How much motivation is that?

It was a good game - Mallala ran the game out very well which did surprise me - Two Wells has done just the opposite the past 2 matches. The game was up for grabs at 3Q time - Mallala turned in on in the 4Q and held the Roosters goalless - Roosters had a couple of chances early in the last but failed to convert - had they goaled the outcome may have been different.

Players to watch for Mallala, red haired Monty stepped it up when he needed to - seemed to be the goto man whenever Mallala needed to consolidate - Rimmer was also a hard worker on the ball and the underrated ruckman Moffat did a good job. Mall defence was good not sure who the players were but they had some strong players in air.

Seccafien was good again for the Roosters, Hart snr played quite well and Buss played a solid game up forward. Two Wells will be in the hunt this year - I can see them improving once they all get to know how each other plays.

All this and I don't think Earl was out there for Mallala either - another solid season coming up for the pies.

Virginia wins - what's happening at Longies? Have Virginia recruited further or has Phillips given them a rocket after last weeks loss and they have responded?

Did I see Dalgleish in the best players - is this the same player that played a number of years ago? Good to see a couple of younsters in the best for United - Dhamu and Abberley.

The season is getting quite unpredictable at the present time.

I witnessed first hand yesterday at Two Wells the U17s mercy rule in all its (non) glory. Anyone who thinks the players are in favour of this rule or are not aware of what happens when it is enacted during the game, just needed to be watching the final few minutes before half time. TW were up by 9 goals and another goal would have ended the game at half time - it appeared that no-one wanted to be the goal kicker who would kick the goal that would end the game at half time. What a joke - any rule that encourages this sort of football behaviour is clearly wrong - no-one wants to kick a goal! Its a fundamental part of aussie rules. I am also assured that their was no instructions to the players to take this action - they figured it out on their own.

Come 3q time TW was well over the 10 goal mark and the game was deemed over, players swaped guerneys and the last quarter was played out. 2 TW players clashed at one stage in a contest, 1 injured his ankle and had to leave the ground. One might argue that this could have happened anyway but the fact is the injury happened when 2 teammates clashed because 1 HAD to play for the other side.

The rule needs to be recinded immediately. I also believe (and this is the best news I have heard in a long time) that none of the U17 coaches support the rule and there is a meeting shortly to have it removed.

Not too soon for my liking - maybe next time a rule is put up for voting that ALL clubs undertake some debate about the potential outcomes and fundamental damages that it can cause. Keep mercy rules out of U17s and revert the U14s to the "old" rule.

By all reports Steve Bawden is back umpiring in our league. Like it was three years ago, sounds like his performance on Saturday at Two Wells was again deplorable with little to no idea of the interpretation of basic fundamental rules of our great game. It is such a shame when the other umpire (whom is new to the league this year and has just finished playing) was very very good, yet Bawden was overruling correct decisions and in most cases non-decisions from the other end of the ground. I really dont know what Doug Tallboy is doing to imporve umpiring in this keague when this bloke has been consistently terrible for years and yet he gets him back this year. It truly is the most disappointing facet of this league at the moment.

Speaking to the other umpire after the gane on Saturday, whom umpired in the amatuers last year, he suggested that our league standard is about the same as div 2 in the amatuers.

Got to agree with you on that one donk. Bawden umpired B Grade the first game when United played Mallala and if you ask anyone on either team they would agree that it was one of the poorest examples of umpiring seen in a long time. How he gets an A grade game like your suggesting is beyond me. Surely "form" has got to be considered by Tallboy and not just rotating the umpires for the sake of it.
Speaking of Tallboy I saw he was doing the 14's and 17's again. I know he's only trying to give the others a go but the best umpire by a long way must do A grade every week.

Lucky my AFL tipping is going ok because I only got 1 out of 3 this weekend. What an even year its turning out to be.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

I take it Dalgleish wasnt playing on A Leo on Sat, given he was BOG and Leo kicked a bag. Who was big Al? Is that Bascombe the one who played for Port Adelaide.

Yes United are a rabble. Seems none of their players even want to be there. I don't think anyone needs to be worried about United this year.

See my posting from last week - Bawden umpired TW v Virg the week before and was quite possibly the most disgraceful effort I have ever seen (and Tallboy witnessed that game) - imagine the shock when he runs out AGAIN this week - on last weeks effort he should have been doing the U14 at best. The other guy was OK this week and Bawden was nowhere near as officious this week (could not have umpired that bad 2 times in a row).

Interesting Swamps that I thought he was better but I had the previous weeks effort to judge him on - coming to see him for the first time - yea he was probably still very ordinary.

I have to say though - his signals are first class and straight out of the text book - shame we have to see them so often.

Yeah Dangles was on Leo. Says something about the teams performance when your best player has 5 kicked on him.

Was a pretty scrappy game at Longies considering the perfect weather. Lots of skill errors by both teams. Umpires weren't too good there either, not as bad as the tigers mind you. Take nothing away from Virginia though they just wanted it more I think.

Also thanks to the 3, maybe 4 Virginia supporters for making the effort to come to the game. The atmosphere was electric!

Big call when teams like Virginia are winning games. Is A. Leo the grey haired bloke?

It seems that is the biggest priority for most of them, and lets no forget the running form when giving a 50 m penalty. Heels up and chest out, sheer professionalism
