The trip to Virginia is never a pleasant one and when they travel it is like the Roseworthy days with very poor attendances.

An idea out of left field for the future is something like what occurred on Yorke Peninsula with the merging of leagues to provide a stronger comp. Adelaide Plains could merge with North Eastern with the core of clubs remaining and the far flung ones going elsewhere, e.g. Mallala, United, Balaklava & Hummocks staying, Virginia & Two Wells going to Amateurs and Hamley to either fold or join with other clubs to merge with NEFL then the 2 Clare teams, Blyth, Riverton, Brinkworth & Min-Man joining the new league, Eudunda and Burra to Mid Murray. Would make the new league 10 teams and also strengthen Mid Murray to 7 teams.

Would hate to see our league go backwards with clubs folding but more travel South would not be appealing to true Country footy fans but a move North in line with where the Balak and Hummocks boys play cricket and Tennis would.
(hazeen)!Should be NEVERWAS. Do you play the banjo? you like watching deliverance? you breed pigs.? geeeez you can talk sh*t. football will grow with the expected development and the current format will change . maybe your nasty manner towards virginia is the reason the trip down south is unpleasant for you. if you show a little respect it might be returned!

This isn't me old mate "Torp" under a different name is it? resorting to the same insults whenever someone airs an opinion they don't agree with.

Pull your head in mate, everyone is entitled to their opinions, even you, just keep it civil thanks.

I did say my idea was out of left field, look at the Yorkes league, was two leagues into one and now attracts numerous ex SANFL players rather than the handfull we have in the APFL (and I'm not having at shot at Ricky O) and is a well supported comp.

Hazbeen,

Great Idea regarding e.g. Mallala, United, Balaklava & Hummocks heading to the NEFL, Balaklava in 1997 pretty much voted to go, but hit a road block that was voted out by the Netball committee. The overall idea is very entertaining, and I think a complete restructure of leagues is not just an idea, but something the SANFL through its affilated leagues needs to review, as their are alot of country leagues suffering a similar fate.

I think in-breeding results in people who can't use punctuation properly and who use too many smilies. Is that true Torp?

Here's a thought why don't we discuss football - stop throwing bombs. There are plenty of issues around APFL - here's a few

1. Junior mercy rule - yep its still there
2. Burley balls - haven't heard much feedback except who's favourite ball etc - any players out there want to comment?
3. Umpiring standards - must be a comment from someone - what was the standard like last weekend
4. Import rule - every club gets an extra this year - whats the point??
5. How many imports are playing at each club?
6. Virginia may not have a huge following (numbers) but I don't reckon its any worse than Balaks.

First time for everything............ Saturday the umpire paid a 50m penalty against Mallala because of a comment from under the verandah, which disagreed with a free kick. Whats next... Im glad he's not umpiring at AAMI at a Port game :?

In response to your points Jumbo;

1. Not good for junior development, I played in junior teams at either end of the spectrum and learnt more from getting pummelled than from cruising.

2. Am retired but always hated the cheap burleys at training

3. Been working every weekend so far so don't know

4. No point, just takes more money away from the clubs that could be used on the juniors

5. Balaklava has 3 I believe: Ben Catford, Jake Levi & Brady Scott

6. Probably right, I know as the years go past I am travelling less to away games except to those where I know people from the opposition and where my kids know other kids.

Back on this agenda are we Torp? I don't think Jumbo asked anything about racial vilification.
Fair enough, there seem to have been some issues in the past with that sort of thing, but please be careful what you write - you may not be worried about getting sued but we are.

Yes you can, because your version of the truth may not necessarily line up with that of the people you are discussing.

I have never suggested you have posted slander or abuse. However, I'm suggesting with your apparent past history on this site that discretion might be the better part of valour. We apply the same rules to all.
You've received a reminder of that situation.

Also, your suggestion that I'm the result of in-breeding on a previous page could be considered insulting.

Any further comments on this issue can be directed to me by PM, as I don't wish to clog up the boards with this debate.

Terrible, For all those blokes who have been asking where Doug Tallboy has been, he was at Two Wells last week to witness the most incosistent game that i have witnessed in a few years.

Doug has his hands full being the (see if i can get this right?) Central District junior umpiring chief as well as being in charge of the guys we get week in week out. I briefly had the chance to chat with Doug before the A-Grade gamefrom what i could gather i'm not sure we'll see him in the white's with a whistle in the A-Grade anytime soon.

I saw him directly after the game having a brief discussion with the two men who were clearly not in charge. I don't like to bag umpires as a rule but they were terrible and the inconsistency was not one-sided as both sides had no idea at times what decision had been made, it was disappointing and ruined the spectacle that in the end would have been better off with out umpires.

So at least i take some solace in the fact that Both Doug Tallboy and Andy Seccafien were in attendance to wittness a horrid display, and hopefully have reinforced what is expected of umpires in the APFL so that the level of umpiring holds this league down no longer.

Umpires Prouse and Jenner, probably the best we have at present?
Sorry people I only deal in facts!
