Totally agree - so how do we get rid of it - I have been speaking with as many execs as I can find and none seem to think there is much chance to get rid of it this season - but thats no reason to not try. Approach the SANFL? Letters to the papers? Club pressure? Maybe if there was a majority of clubs to push against it, then the APFL has to act? A majority is only 4 clubs. I can't see United, Balaklava, Two Wells or Virginia being in favour - probably Hamley and Hummocks would be (but for the wrong reasons) and Mallala on the fence.

Pressure your league reps - lets get rid of it.

Would be easy. Be fresh as a daisy the next day too, he doesn't run much. New clubs might want him, but how come his old clubs don't try to keep him?

News from the Advertiser this morning, Former United player and brother of Michael and Virginia's Ricky, Phil o'Loughlan has been jailed for two years and nine months for his part in an assault at the Highlander hotel in october 2005.

I know it's probably got nothing to do with footy but he ran around out here some some people may be interested.

Phil played the 05 season with United + one game in 06 (he rocked up drunk and was given his marching orders after the match). Had talent. Was a nice enough bloke but did get a bit angry/violent when on the p*ss.
Must have been a serious assault to get that length of time given how our judiciary system works these days.

Judging by what is written in the paper, someone actually king hit the poor blighter and phil sank the boots in while he was on the deck, Don't know Phil. thought he was handy though, but that's just not on, wouldn't have thought it was the first time it happened at the Highlander though

Before making such a judgement about what was written in the paper, find out the real story and the "poor blighter" had provoked the fight and was second best with his mates! Newspapers make up what they want.

He also mentioned that they would be striving to improve their list over the next few years, so i would suggest that a few of their scouts would be out and about, trying to poach other players from several leagues including our great league. Now i wouldn't expect people to be handing in clearance forms straight away, he mentioned the fact that they were quite flush with coin, im not too sure that they know how much money goes through a country club instead of an amateur club, but i think they have a rude awakening headed their way.

personally i would have thought they would have a crack at getting into the APFL as the 8th side, but noooo, big dreams it seems!!

I couldnt think of anything worse than a side from Angle Vale coming into this league. I think your all forgetting that 95% of players and supporters within this competition are from the country and enjoy the country atmosphere and lifestyle of country footy on Saturday afternoon. Angle Vale... country????? Yeah right, head the other way boys. If we need another teams the only solution is north or east, not even closer to Adelaide. Give me a break!!!! Amateur teams from the northern suburbs would be the last teams that i want to be involved with. I realise thats only my opinion but im certain im not alone. Heading south = Trouble with capital "T" and we hear of sh#t happening far too often from that neck of the woods as it is.
Country or Suburbian footy?? I know what i would rather.

Ricky O can certainly play, but he has not done his reputation any favours shopping around from club to club for that past few years. I agree that a former afl player of just a few years ago would surely be more switched on than that. Also lets not forget Greg Phillips the coach, im absolutely certain that a bloke of his calibre and discipline would not stand for that sort of crap the night before a game. I think Ricky O might come and bite a few teams on the backside before too long. He's a class player.

NOW to today's football! Watching TW today, impressive good mix all over the ground, good running players, big target at full forward and young to boot.BUT sadly STILL! the umpiring was woefull, so POOR at times, the ump's coach(from the side lines) was telling the boy's in white the rules! As good contest only couple in it half way through last term then TW kicked a few late, winning by 45 points

Whatever fella, i wrote it in here because some people out here know Phil and remember him running around, the details were taken from the Advertiser and their motives are their own, but i would have thought he wouldn't have gotten two years for trying to help him up, regardless of who started it, you don't sink the boots in after he's been put down. 1 x King hit, 2 x laying the boots in afterwards, not the toughest men going around.

Easy Swampy put the gun back in the holster son, I only said that i would have thought that getting into the BLG or the APFL is a massive stretch for these boguns, i don't want to see another team from Angle Vale, i would prefer another team however but thats another discussion, you raised some valid points however re: trouble from that neck of the woods.

Ricky O - The O is for 1) Over rated, 2) Overpaid & 3) Obsolete.

A Bloke with his reputation and to turn out like he did yesterday is a disgrace to him and to Virginia, who have some blokes who actually put in, and to see this lump lope around falling over was embarrassing for him. The Rams will have a look at his contribution over coming weeks and he will be invited to leave, i will give you that he had a hamstring complaint, but when he ran at goals he ran hard, but not too hard elsewhere, even had to be helped off the ground.
