Are Salisbury gonna win an A-Grade game this year?

Bloody hell - a 100 point loss to Walkerville...

Div 3 Standouts

Postby cruzn9 » Mon May 01, 2006 4:08 pm

Raggies are looking the goods this year in both there A's & B's - and still havnt placed there strongest side on the field yet this year. - The club is looking for some great reuslts this year.
A great battle with Payneham Norwood Union & im sure the raggies will be looking for a different result next time. And someone said before a huge crowed that turned out that day.
I think flinders park are better then where they are sitting on the ladder just one bad qtr and they were thump by 12 goals, but did shake up the raggies upto halftime.
Eastern park def know how to throw a punch, to bad about there footy ability.
& last but not least Old iggies - a good running side but missing key position players will do alright this year.....
The rest of the competition in Div 3 - Havent seen them play yet but im sure each battle will be competitive & close.....

Yeah MP we're not going too well at the moment, just one bad quarter in each of the first 3 games cost us 3 wins, and last week was just shocking. We have 8 of the best 18 out at the moment but other teams have injuries too so I'm not gonna make excuses for last week, just 4 very, very ordinary quarters.

Looking forward to heading out to Torrens Valley this week, should be an interesting one. I guarantee we won't serve up what we did last week.

Well done to Athelstone on their win. We were there or thereabouts for the first half but they pulled away in the second half. Pretty strong and even all over the park. Never seen Luke Abell play in person before but I thought he was dominant across half-back. Class act.

Blublurag, I was gonna try catch up with ya for a drink after the game but I didn't get on the comp on Friday to let ya know so when you head out to our paddock later on in the year we'll work something out.

Interetsing to see Flinders Park win by so much over PAOC, thought that would've been a close one. I picked Pembroke over Iggies as well, so I'm going well. Payneham starting to show they'll be around the mark as well.

No worries Pag. We can catch up later in the season.

Luke Abell did play well yesterday. Tell you what though, Salisbury is a young side but there is plenty to look forward to. Spoke to Wayne (coach) after the game and he is confident the results will come as these young lads get a few more games under their belt.

Yeah, with Pembroke losing out at Eatern Park last week I thought Old Iggies would be a good show.

Flinders Park are OK, a good win for them. The 'Fuller' is Ron Fuller's son. Hasn't played much footy, looked OK against us in the B's the week before. I see that he kicked 2 goals in the A's this week. Could be one to watch for the future. Pretty handy pedigree. McGuiness kicked 5, he is big, rucks and rests in the pocket. He is a hard one to stop. Their full forward is also dangerous, and I believe he is only 16.

Hopefully Salisbury can knock off PAOC this week, I think they will.

Payneham had a good win out at EP, any win there is a good one. Walkerville just scraped home against Pooraka. Thought they might have won a little more easily than that.

Yeah I'm still not sold on Walkerville. They did beat us by 100 points last week but I'm not sure whether that's an indication of how good they are. They've had a fair draw so far but they're next month will sort them out a bit. Athelstone, Payneham NU, Eastern Park and Iggies. We'll see how they're travelling at the mid-year break.

Div 3

Postby cruzn9 » Mon May 08, 2006 10:39 am

I was very impressed by salisbury's efforts on the weekend, there run through the middle & backlines was direct and hardness around the ball was enjoyable to watch, there first qtr kicking for goal really let them down and could of been a couple goals up at half time if they had kicked straighter. - it just seems that teams are dropping away in the second half against a hard running side like athelstone. You are right about athelstone PAD being strong around the ground & with 4-5 blokes still to come into that A grade side, there are going to be some big decisions by tod barabas in the next couple weeks as to whom will be in & out.
It was great to see Luke (The General) Abell at his best & consistant performers like malcolm grossman & scott thompson have given opposition clubs trouble through the middle & around the ground with there run & silky skills.
I was not surprised at all with Flinders park big win over paoc, because last week they were'nt far off against athelstone, but ran out of legs in the last qtr.
Its great to see the competition is so even this year....

I agree with your tips there Pag.

Great round of matches with everyone playing someone close to them on the ladder.

Walkerville are hosting a past players day this week. It could get the home side pumping. I hope not.

Still running around with Athelstone?

One player Salisbury should never have let get away.

Then again, he wasn't the only one to walk after the glory of '97...

Surprised at Salisbury losing...can you shed any light Pag?

Old Igs, PNU good wins.

Raggies OK after quarter time.

Pooraka struggling. Their B's got thumped.

Grossman played at Salisbury?

Yeah mate, pretty tight for the first three quarters, about a goal or two in it either way for the first three quarters. Had our chances at the start of the last quarter but didn't take them, then the momentum shifted that little bit, they managed to get one and the momentum picked up and got a couple of late ones and that was that. Pretty disappointing for us, but we just gotta pick it up and give Eastern Park a decent crack next week.

Wasn't really surprised with the Athelstone v Walkerville result at all, Walkerville will come back to the pack by the break. Flinders Park and Pooraka are heading in opposite directions, a bit surprised PNU beat Pembroke by that much, and Iggies would've done it fairly comfortable over Eastern Park I reckon.

How was the Athelstone/Walkerville game. Saw Sean Wagener got in the best, played on him last week out at Torrens Valley, very solid defender.

Played his junior footy and couple of years in the seniors at Salisbury.

Was frustrated at the lack of opportunities he got under big Frankie in the A's in 1997.

Played in the B-Grade premiership team that year.

He wasn't the only one to leave at the end of 1997 - there was a mass exodus of players.

i'm not surprised at athelstones win either. I reckon its all downhill for walkies from here, have had a good run till now, but havent played any top 4 sides, expect to see them in the bottom 5 before the long weekend.

I don't think Walkies will slip that far. I think they will hang on to 5th spot. I think they can beat Eastern Park for that spot.

Athelstone v Walkerville was a good game. Certainly some pretty solid contests. Walkerville Oval is a small ground so it is a bit conducive to that style of game. Walkies were up at quarter time by 2 goals. Raggies kicked 15 goals to 5 after that. Wags had his best game for the year.
