Strath and Willunga virtually have the same percentage after round 2 and from what I have seen/heard Strath may have had the better quality opposition to date. Friday nights game will be a very interesting gauge of where both clubs are at.

BJ - you cant tell me you honestly think Willunga will only beat the Saints by 6 or 7 goals?? Are you playing??

Im not sure how much we'll win by, we have to win first thats the most important thing. Few injuries starting to come into the side which is a great test of depth! Bit wet on the weekend and im certainly not going to come on and say we will flog any side as each week presents a new challenge and gives every team a chance of taking the points. Little bit wet over the weekend which is why ive kept the margins relatively close.

The core group of players minus a couple are playing and this week gives us a perfect opportunity to play the younger guys again and see if they can back up what was a good contribution last week.

Fair enough. I didn't take the weather into consideration.

So the question is out there. Do we need to abide by the points system?

Tips

Strath 40 points
Comapss 25 points
Yank 10 points
Victor 35 points
Willunga 70 points (but the Saints will attack and wont go defensive!!!)

Yes we must abide by them, but the question is which system. The GSFL have to inform Strath of the points value of its players and then it is done. Surely the GSFL has to monitor the whole points situation and place a point value on every player that comes in. Apparently according to one delegate the points value was suppose to be placed on the clearance website as the player came in. That would make it transparent and clear, but failed to be done by a paid servant of the League, hence confusion.

Well this is not good news for the GSFL at all! If the big boss could not care about the rules and weather clubs in the league 'play by the rues' then what is known as a well respected, quality country football league will be known as a league down south with no administration control at all!!! Does Kev support the mighty Roosters?

That is a disgrace, hope the Saints show persistance and make the GSFL accountable in managing this system. A delegates meeting should be called immediately.

I think it is important to note that Strath would have been under the total allocation of points, however its the principle of getting the system right before a club is in a position of breaking the cap. Will Willunga kick up a stink this week when the Saints play Jonothon Brown, Chris Judd and Dean Cox as 1 point players? Shouldn't be an issue beacause the precedent has been set.

PS If any other club had bought up an issue (ie Encounter Bay reported a Yank player in round 1), the issue would have been dealt with immediately

I can see the point the saints are making about the points as it will only be a matter of time before someone plays players as 1 point (as Strath are doing) and if the points were allocated correctly it would push then over the limit!
Are you saying the leauge do not take the Saint seriously LF, and all other clubs are favoured over them?

LF i would be a little upset if you played JB, Juddy and Big Cox this week! Points system aside im not sure its in the spirit of the game to play them all against us!!! What about dropping JB to the 2s??

Strath wouldnt have been over the points but the amount of points each player is worth needs to be CLEAR so that there is no confusion! How can there be any problems like this at all!! Ridiculous to think its Rd 3 and we are still discussing issues with the points system!!!

All clubs should be treated equally. If Burgess (Westies and Broadview A1) and Ellis (PHOS Camden) are only 1 point instead of the additional 3 then Strath are going to be under, but if they are the extra 6 they would be sitting on the maximum 32. What they have now is room for another 2 players by thier calcualtions. It is important Saints and Myponga continue thier stand.

It would make for an even contest if Saints had those kind of ins. BJ, you sure you are playing at Willunga. Saints will have a chance if Willunga roll up to the wrong ground. Wonder if that has ever happenend?

Im not sure if its ever happened before but i assure you it will not happen this week.

There is some confusion as the league programmed our July match against the Saints to be at Willunga the same weekend the Almond Blossom festival is on and our oval is not available as it will be covered in farm animals and various other activities. The Saints to their credit were good enough to agree to swapping the program around and playing at our ground this time instead of theirs.

And no if those guys were playing we wouldnt be a chance in hell!

Due to the Alomond blossom festival being held on willunga oval later in the year (when saints were scheduled to play at willunga) the Saints agreed to swap their home games otherwise willunga would have been forced to play 2 games at Goolwa

=D> =D> Good work by the saints changing the game around, although BJ wouldnt you boys rather play on the lush grass of the Goolwa oval than your sandy hill?

Anzac Day, Night game,Traditional rivals,Strath "playing" with the rules and a big crowd, could be the game of the minor round.
Dont worry about Saints and Myponga continuing their stand, Creeks need to make a stand tomorrow night.
