Hey LF did the saints end up looking into the strath points situation in round 1 any further?

TC Steve Ryan originally comes from Country Victoria, not sure how high the level he played whilst in Vic but moved here for a seachange to work with his Brother. Played at Cove for a few years and kicked 130 (probably more) goals in 2005. Had a break from footy and is close friends with Genovese from Trade school so when Steve mentioned he was gonna make a comeback we had a chat to him. He loves the club already, has young kids which works well considering theres more kids uner 5 than adults at the club at the moment.

I suggest TC u come down for a look to see how he plays, im sure the guys from the Southern forum would be able to tell you hes quite a good player.

Oh for the people out there who doubt our junior development etc the kids that came up on Saturday in a big game Williamson, Andrewartha and Toone all performed well and should hold there spots. Great games in the B grade by Damo Carr, Scotty Groom, Shaggers and a couple of other 'youngsters' at the club has certainly got the big boys on there toes and knowing theres a bit of pressure on spots can only be a good thing!!

Thanks for that BJ, would be interested to find out what level he has played, as it is refreshing to see a quality footballer come into the GSFL and kick goals straight away. I just had never heard of him before and boy is he doing a great job.
Now onto the junior development side of things, i wasn't having a go as I know it would be difficult to break into the powerful Willunga team, but it is an observation of the vacuum it could cause if kids don't see a spot in the A grade. It will only be a problem in 4-5 years, so it is not short term and there is no reason why any of the present Willunga premiership players should give it away. As it looks at present the team is functioning at its premium best, which is saying something after the last four years.

Willunga will be fine 4 years to come. They may have to recruit a couple of talls thats all. Could you imagine the day that Sammy and Haskett have to play Key positions! Doom and gloom 4 Willunga

That is rediculous, of course you can do something, as the same thing happened against the Mudlarks on the weekend. Only 2 players over 1 point and the problem was raised once again to the GSFL. One club is playing by a different set of rules with the points. It needs to be addressed by the GSFL so all clubs know what they can and can't do. Clubs such as Saints, Bays, Victor and Compass are recruiting on the basis of the points system that is in place without looking for loop-holes and have rejected some players because they didn't think they were 1 point players by the rules. One club says they are!

GA, you don't rate the Creek. 15 goals puts them on a par with Willunga, you think Strath are that good?

If as suggested by TC that one club is playing by a different set of rules due to a loophole surely the league executive needs to bring this out into the open for all clubs to be aware of so its then back in the respective clubs hands how they go about levelling the playing field.
You would think that if this didnt happen soon there would be a case for a special general meeting , or has the executive got its own loophole preventing this.

The other thought could be that maybe even if Strath were allocating what others are inferring would be the right points, that they would still be under the maximum allowed. So this may be why its not being taken any further.

Strath and Willunga virtually have the same percentage after round 2 and from what I have seen/heard Strath may have had the better quality opposition to date. Friday nights game will be a very interesting gauge of where both clubs are at.

BJ - you cant tell me you honestly think Willunga will only beat the Saints by 6 or 7 goals?? Are you playing??

However what it does mean is if they are valuing them differently so should the other 9 clubs and the lower ones can recruit a couple more players. Someone from the GSFL has to come out and say something!
