wHAT A EFFING DISASTER......SACA'S ADMIN A JOKE!!!!

HARRIS TO JOIN BULLS

Wednesday 16 April 2008
Queensland Cricket has confirmed that South Australian pace bowler Ryan Harris will join the XXXX GOLD Queensland Bulls on a three-year deal from the 2008-09 season.
Harris, 28, informed QC of his decision overnight from England where he is presently playing for Division One county team Sussex.
A right-arm pace bowler and right hand batsman, Harris took 37 wickets at 29.86 for the West End Redbacks last season to record his best first class performance since making his debut in 2001-02. He was named in the ACA-Johnnie Walker 2007-08 Pura Cup Team of the Year.
He attended the Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy in 2002 where one of his fellow scholars was Queensland allrounder Chris Simpson.
Harris said last night that he was looking forward to continuing his career with the Bulls.
“It was a good offer and while I’ve enjoyed my time with the Redbacks, I thought the opportunity to bowl at the Gabba over the next few years should see my career develop further,’’ he said.
“I thank the SACA for their support over the past few years and wish them all the best but I’m genuinely excited about the prospects ahead with the Bulls,’’ Harris said.
Queensland Cricket Chief Executive Officer Graham Dixon said Harris would be a welcome addition to the Bulls pace bowling unit.
“We had a number of good reports from our players about Ryan’s competitiveness on the field. He’s the sort of player that has more than one string to his bow and plays all three forms of the game which is important in the current environment,’’ he said.
Our coach was quick to remind me that he won a one-day game for the Redbacks against the Bulls few seasons ago by hitting a six off the last ball so we know he’s a competitor.”

“Ryan’s agreement means that we have concluded our recruitment process and we’ll work now on finalising our playing roster from within our current playing ranks under the usual contracting procedures,’’ Dixon said.
Dixon said Harris was the first player Queensland had recruited under the current contracting system introduced by Cricket Australia in 1998.

“We’ve always welcomed players who have made the move to Queensland to further their cricket careers in the past but this is the first time under the current system that we have recruited a player to transfer from another State. It goes without saying that we’re very pleased that Ryan has chosen to further his career in Queensland,’’ he said.
Please note: Bulls coach Terry Oliver is currently in Sri Lanka on a coaching exchange and is unavailable for comment today.

I was gobsmacked when I read this!

How can the SACA let Harris slip through - even if he wanted to go, he is worth throwing the $$$ just to convince him to stay.

SACA = lunatics

So ridiculous it could be true...

Perhaps, given that Harris is now an international ring-in when playing Australian Domestic cricket, the SACA don't want him as they have had so many failed efforts with other international ring-ins?

Maybe Harris simply wanted to go / wanted a change (QLD offers a great lifestyle choice, esp if he has a family)

Like Chris Rogers to Vic ... like many players before him switching states

I'll wait to hear the SACA's side of the story before I jump on them ...... I may need to jump on them once I hear it

Yeah I would love to hear the SACA's version of events. This is a problem and someone once posed the question to me, is it really the as bad as we think. We the answer is yes it is. The only player to actually desrve a spot in the team left. But still lets see what the saca say.

He doesnt have a wife and kids if thats what your asking
-
The grass is always greener as they say- espescially when you are talking about the GABBA shield wicket- i think this influenced his decision more than most think. A green wicket = more wickets= more chance of playing for australia= Smart Move

Peter McIntyre is dead right the SACA CEO Mike Deare needs to explain the reasons why Ryan was offered a 2 year performance based deal.

Time to get a new committee in.
If this was the football world, the under performing board, which allowed an under performing high performance coach and selection committee pick an under performing team would have been moved on by now.
Who can blame Harris for going? In the past I would have been disgusted if a player had given up the Red Cap for the filthy lucre of interstate - but there's a rudderless ship in this state and if we win a shield in the next 15 years, I'll be amazed.
It starts at the top, and the people that have the most to say when it counts the least (and the least to say when it counts) are to blame.

Tirade over.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

Wow....

Now I know the SACA officially have no idea.

Not saying that Rhino's numbers were that great, but he's something solid to base a team around. Who's our leaders now?

bring mal out of retirement  his captaincy was pretty good actually & ryles-kennels should be convinced to make a comeback

but seriously marsh has got to go as too many personal problems cause conflict with some players, imho you seperate what you think of a person to what their ability is in the sport

eg, if the bloke is a d...h..d but averages 83 with the bat, you play him, the only way you don't play them is if he didn't train or is a disruption to the rest of the team

to quote wedgie "IT ISN'T ROCKET SCIENCE"
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

You can't blame him either for wanting to pick up those cheap wickets whenever the Bulls play the Backs next season.
