Retrospective Stanley H. Lewis trophies 1947 to 1961

Postby spell_check » Sun Apr 06, 2008 8:24 pm

First awarded in 1962 in memory of the late Stanley H. Lewis, it is a trophy which still continues to this day. I have found ladders in the Advertiser prior to this to determine the trophy winners and points table. As it turns out, only two clubs would have won it in the 15 seasons.

(Team, League Pts, Seconds Pts, Senior Colts Pts, Junior Colts Pts, Total)

I've updated it now that I have all the ladders. However, I do not have the final scores in the last round for four teams in the Junior Colts in 1956 - Glenelg, Sturt, Norwood and West. So either two clubs have another two points to add on to those scores.

West Torrens won their fare share of Reserve,U19 & U17 flags but I would have thought
that Norwood or West would have won at least one. North too, come to think of it.
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

Norwood, North and West never really had a good season in all grades throughout the period and this is probably what cost them one each.

Thank you once again!

Another incorrect figure(s) on there is the 1957 Reserves points.
They should be:
Port 80
Torrens 55
West 60
Norwood 25
Sturt 35
Glenelg 50
North 10
South 25

That adds up to 17 rounds of points and not 16, which is what is up on the table.
