Some intersting points before the series starts.

Sri Lanka have never won a test in the Windies, but you would think if they are ever going to, this may be their chance. The West Indies are lanquishing in 8th place on the Test rankings and have come off a series loss to South Africa after winning the first test convincingly.

Chaminda Vaas has the wood over the West Indian captain dismissing him 6 times in 9 innings. Gayle only averages 12.4 against the Sri Lankans in 9 hits so he will need to improve that for the home side to be a good chance of victory. Murali and Sangakkara also love playing against the West Indies with Sangakkara averaging nearly 60 and Murali has taken 70 wickets at 17.

Sarwan comes back into the side after a long absence through injury and has been named VC straight away. The pitch is said to be flat and low and it is likely both teams will play 2 spinners.

Sri Lankas is a good chance to record their first victory against the West Indies away from home IMO.

Warnapura made his maiden test hundered (120), Kumar contributed a stylish half century and the skipper is unbeaten on 25 overnight. To make matters worse for the home side they lost VC Sarwan who is playing his first test in 10 months with a hand injury. Sri Lanka should be looking 400+ at least.

WI have made a awkard start finishing the day at 1/29 and yes you guessed it Chris Gayle out for another duck against Sri Lanka and once again Vaas dismisses him. Regardless of how cool and casual Gayle comes across as this record must be weighing heavily on his mind.

Sri Lanka have broken the drought in the West Indies and recorded their first ever away victory.

WI put up a brave fight attempting to chase down a record chase (437) but they fell 121 runs short with brave efforts from Bravo (83), Sarwan (72) and Chris Gayle coming in at no 6 made a patient 51*.

Chaminda Vaas was again the star with the ball, showing that he is not wuite finished yet taking 5-61.

WI will be looking to bounce back quickly because they are in danger of losing the series and continuing their dismal record over the last 12 months.
