Brahma lodge and glenunga both came last in div 5R so dont see them providing much of a challenge, CLG came 4th and Trinity came 6th in an 8 team division. Golden grove, Blackfriars, and uni are in different divisions and they all made finals

I would say hopevalley would be big favourites, but heccies will be big improvers mainly due to no basso as coach, i will say him not coaching is at least a 5 goal difference if not more,

Houghton will be more competitive than last year. The Reserves have 40+ to choose from this week and such high numbers should keep players honest as far as training goes.

Brodie Jessup spotted working hard on the track, keen to shed a few kilos and possibly push for selection.

Looks like it's blue guernseys for the Raiders on the weekend, unless there is a last minute seeing of the light by bloody-minded bureaucrats at SAAFL HQ. According to them, the backs of our guernseys clash with WC's, even though ours are 95% brown with white numbers, WC's are brown/gold stripes with brown (black?) numbers. Nevermind the socks, they don't clash

Apparently, it will be hard to distinguish between teams if we get muddy. No sh*t.

Anyway, I see this as culmination of their grand plan to enforce all clubs to have away strips. Which I see as difficult for a small club like Houghton, hard to find a spare $3-4K, but my mind boggles at the thought of cost for larger clubs with four senior teams plus juniors

All I can say is I'm glad we were in the competition first, cause having to buy a 2nd guernsey for our teams would be beyond us.
Unlucky call I reckon.

how many times last year did any players get mixed on field between the 2 teams??? para hills vs heccies had a huge clash, but onfield you would never get mixed up, from the crowd point of view it is hard to tell the difference

would hate to win a grand final with an alternative guersney haha would you get to keep the guernsey??? could be wingfield B grade all over again : P

In 2001 our B Grade won a flag in alternative guernsey playing against Ingle Farm. Fair enough there probably was a clash there, but still to win a flag and not be wearing your club colours is pretty dissapointing.

Wasnt so bad for me cause we had Bays gurnseys & i am a fan.

Nah we had to give them back, not sure who washed them but they would have had some fun after the punishment they would have got in the post match celabrations. Old woolen type guernseys mean that a fair bit of liquid soaks in..

To be honest I havent been around the club too much yet this year, but from all reports he is all ready to go. Handy inclusion because we have always been light on in the big man department.

No
I think the Cs may be starting early at Daly Oval so both teams can see the As at HV

Injury free, I think Hope Valley will be the benchmark in the B's. I think it is a much stronger side than last years side, so should be interesting to see how we shape up against Heccies this week, as I think they will be up there too. HV has their B grade captain out, but hopefully not too many more will be out of the side. I guess with new players around the club, selection will be hard, and so could be a couple of weeks before the side/s are settled. I would assume that would be for most clubs.
I'm proud of you fellas. You all kept your head on a swivel, and that's what you gotta do when you find yourself in a vicious cock fight!

We won't be buying a set of away guernseys just yet (there be a little problem called money), but is something the lads would be keen for. This week we are just hiring a set.

I don't think any of the lads are too phased by it, they just want to play footy. I'm just kicking up a stink because I don't see what has changed from last year and 2005.

*cough* hidden agenda *cough*

I would venture out and say never. Playing against Westminster in the mud was more of a problem.

But the SAAFL would argue it's not about player point of view but rather umpire point of view.

Umpires should all wear white I reckon. Where the hell did the orange come from in the first place? Wizard Cup copy?
