da and others can tell u red muff wont be umpiring but it would be a big laugh if he ever did for anyone who has played with the great man on the training track he was known to come out with such things as "well done red muff " or the classic would take a grab on the lead during a training drill "ah red muff to big to strong "...total classic so i could see him as an umpire "holding the ball "..."good decision red muff "or if a player questioned a decision "what are you talking about brad smith might of heard of me get back and stand the mark "just some of the gold that umpire muff could come up with would be a classic i think :D :D :D :D

Can't see too many answering back to him!

Another ex player who was umpiring a couple of years back was Horse (don't know his real name, but he was a tall unit) from Loby. Always did a great job IMO.

That's him. Good bloke, although I guess you were massive rivals back in the day?

Especially when he played for uraidla. Agree top bloke, gentleman

Lucas Herbert at blackwood - makes them real top 3 this year.

Good old Herby playing at Blackwood!!! I wonder who the link is to get him there. I played plenty of footy with him and he was the best ruckman in the SANFL when he was playing at North. Had troubles with injuries and fitness. Not sure how the big man's fitness is these days, but he is a coppa, so would be in a little bit of nick!

If he is playing, there will be no one who will get near him in the ruck or in the air if he is half fit.

Huge pick up if this is true.

ok i now what i have said BUT the great man has made a d!ck of me and the rumours are true red muff the umpire makes his debut umpiring the bridgy trial game not sure against who ? this must be the taylor influence as hahe has played a bit of cricket with us at scibs and has done some work to sign the muff to don the whites ...all i can say is i am glad i am no longer playing because he will be harder to put up with as a maggot than when he was playing ...good luck boys :D :D :D :D

Wow    who would have thunk it.

I'd much rather be on the field with muff knowing he only had a whistle rather than steaming out of FF at a billion miles an hour. I remember lining up on him back in '04 and he says "mate, you just stand next to me or behind and you'll be fine. But get in front of me and I'll f***in flatten ya". Not being one to take a smart piece of advice like that, I stood in front and he ran through me time and time again.

Brad Smith umpired us on saturday and did a pretty good job. He picked the blatant frees out but wasn't overly whistle happy which makes for good footy. One of his fellow umpires gaves us a bunch of 25m penalties that took us from half back to the goal line (i know on bridgy thats prob only a couple) so was happy with umpires all round.

Mt barker gave the saints (GSFL) a solid touch up. The Saints were first up and did finish stone motherless last year, but Barker looked good. Quick through the midfield.

Ango by 6 goals,

The B grade was a draw and Ango A grade got up by 22 points - not quite 6 goal.

A pretty good game. Ango started off strong and were up by 5 or 6 goal but Birdwood came back but not far enough.

Bridgewater play Barmera Monash (Riverland Football League) this Sat in trial, will be interesting to see if RFL stack up against Hill's side - Bar-Mon oval is massive so Bridgy oval might be a challenge
